Watercolor painting of Rihanna

in Sketchbook3 years ago

Hello everyone, today is one day I get to be creative as much as I want because I finally have time to myself. I was looking at my Instagram feed earlier and found one of my older paintings I've not shared here before

I painted it in July, before I became active on hive. At the time, I was so pleased with it because of the vibrancy of the colors. So much reds and oranges and burnt sienna used. I also loved the distinct watercolor effects in it that makes it look like the face has carvings on her skin. It helped that my paper, though not the best quality did not allow colors to blend smoothly. This is why it turned it that way actually.

I also loved the light colored eyes I was able to paint. It had the transparency that many watercolor enthusiasts aim for.

It's funny but I actually had a love-hafe6 relationship with the painting because after a while of loving it, I began to be dissatisfied with the way I left the hair. I felt I could have separated the strands more, but after some more time away from it, I realized maybe this is the way it should have been. It's okay to try something different and allow it to be.

Looking at it today, I realize it's a fine work and I'm happy I made it.

Thanks for stopping by!
