My Life in Palette: Enchanted

in Sketchbooklast year (edited)

She was dragging her feet to work that day. It was mid-April when separation anxieties were mixed with the humidity of the summer heat that was eating her up inside when came the time that she had to finally leave the place she had become so comfortable with that it almost felt like home.

She was happy with the voyage on that ship she was on, or so she thought. Until the universe has to cut her loose with that comfort of the calm sea she was sailing in and put her somewhere new - in a stranger and bigger ship that was sailing in a stormy ocean.

It was an unfamiliar water to her and she knew that there was a lot of coping up to do. Everything and everyone she saw was all strangers. For a while, she felt like she did not belong there. She was in indescribable loneliness and all she ever wanted then was to go home.

As she was slowly adjusting to the new current of the waves she was on, she was getting curious about all the new faces she got acquainted with on that day knowing those are the people she was going to deal with starting on that day.

One night, while she was idly lying in bed and waiting for sleep to visit her, she decided to stalk them one by one on their individual social media accounts. She was having a glimpse of the lives of those strangers she met that day. She thought that it was a safe "stalking thing" that would just pass by without them knowing. But when fate plays a game with you, there was no escaping the embarrassment it may cause when the universe would create ways for them to know that you've actually stalked them. With her mind wondering (Juice colored!! Lol) what on earth happened on that night that Mark Zachurberg auto-invited a friend request on one of those people she stalked - a friend request that was also accepted in no time that she had no time to cancel the request. And with all those people that she has stalked on their accounts, there was this only one that Facebook has auto invited. She was so embarrassed that she wished that the ground would just swallow her and she could hibernate for a month or two until all the embarrassments melt.

But of course, it was not the case. The next day, while walking in a narrow hallway while wearing a frown on her face, she met him. That same guy that she unintentionally added on Facebook. He was with the sweetest smile while looking at her and with an embarrassed gaze, she had no choice but to reciprocate the smile she was giving her.

Days went on. The storm on that ocean was slowly getting calm.

And one unforgettable night, under a starless night, she heard him sing. On that one night, that it seemed like all the stars in the universe conspired for her to found him. He has the most soothing and captivating voice she has ever heard that undeniably took her breath away. Moved by his amazing voice, she found herself sitting in the corner, staring directly at him, with every note and rhythm left her astonished.

"There's a calm surrender
To the rush of the day
When the heat of a rolling wind
Can be turned away
An enchanted moment
And it sees me through
It's enough for this restless warrior
Just to be with you"

She was for a moment, at a loss for words with his amazing voice serenading her soul.

"And can you feel the love tonight?"

And as his voice echoed through the stillness of the night as he was singing this line, she was swept away.

It was just a line from the song that she grew up singing along, but she was left wondering why on that moment, the words hits differently.

It was a majestic song and indeed, he sang it majestically. From the corner, she was softly singing along with him. And her heart was celebrating discreetly every time their eyes met on that night. At that moment, she knew hearing that song again will hit differently since that enchanted night. While he was up there on the stage singing, aside from listening to his lovely voice, she had all the time in the world to stare at his pretty face - the epitome of art in the gallery she could stare and admire forever. And then she saw him smiling at her again, a smile that serves the crescent moonlight in the middle of the night and surrounded everything with beauty.

And so she painted it. With all the blissful urge in her heart, she knew she had to paint it.

It was a beautiful encounter that she wanted to write a story about - like a diary. In different shades of colors and hues, she knew she had to tell that story. To tell all the wonderful things it had made her feel that she could not find the perfect words or should she say the guts, for her to utter. It was not among those typical romantic nights under the light of a thousand stars or under the moonlight dazzling fantastically towards the night, the stars were actually hiding that night, but for her, the sky was filled up with colors as it sways gracefully to the rhythm of his lovely voice that echoed through the night - sending sparks to every corner of her heart. Truly, it was definitely an enchanting moment.IMG_20230714_132958.jpg

It was not the meet-cute in a train station, library, or museum we usually see in the movies - not the Juliet meets Romeo thing but still, she's praying with God knows how much, if the universe ever allows, that her painting may eventually tell him one day - not another page of words left unspoken, that she was enchanted to meet him.
