Pink Splatter

in Sketchbook4 years ago

Greetings, everyone!

When I struggle with my art, I often look around my old sketchbooks. This one, I found in one and I really liked it so I decided to share. I have some steps on this one too!

You might know from my old posts that I like roleplaying and roleplay-writing. This is not my character, no, but my writing partner @elwnyx 's character, Phonos. (She's great, go check her our <3 ) I've posted a picture of our characters together before, here. Yeah, that's him :D

When I drew this, we were writing their younger selves, still students in Hogwarts. Someone had put a paint bomb trap on the halls and he triggered it, hehe.

Progress

I rarely leave my art supplies at home when I go out. I take them almost anywhere. In this case, I took them to the... Beach. Yeah. I drew this in between my swimming times, haha. There was this small café where I settled back then, and I often sat there and drew. I miss doing that. No chance now.

Here's the first sketch. Pretty light, with colored ballpoint pen. I like sketching with ballpoints for some reason. They're pretty easy to carry around and work with out of home too.

image.png

Cleaned up and gave it a little more structure. Kind of like a lineart but more of a cleaner sketch.

image.png

I have NO idea for what reason, but I had a little pack of highlighters with me. Perfect for that pink paint splatter, eh? Please ignore my ugly sausage fingers there.

image.png

Some of the shades of pink ballpoints that I have. I might have a problem collecting colorful ballpoint pens. Just might.

image.png

Lined out the splatter paint with them.

image.png

Lined out the rest of him with other colored ballpoint pens. I think I have, like, 4 sets of those with variety of tones. I use a whole other pencilcase for them.

image.png

First layer of coloring finally with watercolors. I have this small set of Winsor&Newton's sets, which fits perfectly in that ballpoint pen case. A couple of water-filled pocket brushes and it's great for carrying around as you can see.

And finally, with a couple more layers of watercolors, it's finished.

I often struggle with drawing male characters. I liked how this one turned out.

Thank you for the support!
Have a nice weekend!

Thank you! Happy you liked it! I often try to take progression shots but not always, haha. Sometimes the flow is just too hard to break :D

esto dibujar a tu personaje original teniendo una realacion con otro personaje

oh you're asking if I want a picture drawn together? Thank you but, no :) I already draw them together myself!

This actually reminds me of when, as a kid, I ate lots of bubblegum trying to blow the most humongous bubble i possibly could, until it eventually pops and splatters all over me 🤣.

Hahah no that you mention it, i can easily see why it reminds you of that, hahahah. Thank you!

Nice! I love the combination of colors you use! Did you go to art school or is your pure natural talent? Either way, great!

Best regards!

Thank you!

The school part is kind of both. I learnt most things myself, then I went to collage for Graphic Design, then dropped out. So I think I can say I learnt both ways, haha.

Happy to see you liked it! Thank you for the support!

Hello @isangelous! Yes, I like it very much!

Well, the perfect combination of formal education, talent, and experience. Keep up the good work, my friend!

I'm quite surprised you have your supplies with you while going swimming. 😅
I guess that's how artists work?

Your work is as great as ever!
I like the pink splatter.

Hahahah I know right? I usually have a backpack when I go. A reasonable sized sketchbook, some pencils/pens and watercolors are a must for me. I usually spend the whole day there after all. Why not sketch while resting? ^^ Thank you!

I guess you can get inspired with the change of view so yeah, I think it's really a must to bring your supplies 😅

Amazing! Truly, you can find inspiration anywhere if you just know how to look. Have a great day 😊

Good to see you liked it! Indeed, inspiration is everywhere. For now and for me, it's just not home, haha. You have a nice day too!
