Pages From My Sketchbook - Love, Pain & The Duality That Binds Them

in Sketchbook2 months ago

Greetings!

The original version, painted a little over a year ago. The original was all about love and pain, but from a 'love heals' kind of angle...this one focuses more on the opposite. Not a great explanation, there really is a lot to these but if I was good at explaining things with words I probably would not do it in images.

Here's the process images and full hyper lapse video of the creation of version 2:

I started with an A4 image...then decided to add wings...Taping more paper to the original sheet isn't the best way to do it maybe, but it worked and in a way makes sense for this drawing.

Acrylic markers can be topped up with a little bit of water...the can....does not mean it is something you should do. That grey colour caused way more trouble than it had any right to.

....using grey as a skin colour made total sense...then I realised that it made him look....not very alive. Definitely NOT what I was going for.

It just wouldn't do! Luckily, before they run dry or leak paint all over you, the paint markers are wonderful and can fix things like this without too much effort.

So much better. I could not add the second skin tone as that marker has given up on life completely now. Maybe I will fill it with coffee and see what kind of mess that makes...

Some shading using the good ole Bic pen. Maybe a few more details and upgrades need to happen, but mostly, this can stay in my sketchbook for now. It is a pretty cool looking thing though, I quite like it!

Well that's it for now. Till next time!
