Simple cartoon drawing - My process in creating it

in Sketchbook3 years ago (edited)

Happy Wednesday guys!

This is my first post in this community. I want to share my process of making simple drawing of a guy in stand pose and talking on phone.

The tools that i used:

  • Adobe photoshop
    • Default brush , hard round pressure size(sketch: 12px,lineart:14px)
  • Drawing tablet
    • Mine was old school wacom bamboo

I will start with the sketch. In this stage i try to get the pose and expression for my character right. Lets make this guy a little mad and start calling his brother because he already waited for quite a while and his brother still not turned up.

Lineart process was the next step. The use of layer indeed speed up the process. Set the sketch layer to multiply. Add new layer for outline and draw again for clean version. The outline drawing output just like below:

Coloring - In this stage just color base on your preference and style. Its your drawing so own it :)

Shading : Tbh, i'm not quite good in this process. Alas, i try to make it up to pleasing the eyes. Reference is good when you try to imitate the effect of lights and shadow. Good observation and practice is the key.

So this is the screenshot of overall layers that i used:

So that's all for now. I will share more on my next post. Thank you guys for your time and attention :)
