A friend recently asked if I would do an oil painting of her late mother’s favorite hydrangea bush in full bloom. It would be a way to remember her mom every time she walked by the painting. I love doing paintings that evoke fond memories and the subject matter has especially personal meaning to the recipient of the painting. I was happy to be asked but was a little concerned about doing a painting with so much foliage. It wasn’t as difficult as I first expected and I’m more happy with the composition than I thought I would be when I started. It is called Endless Summer because that is a variety of Hydrangea bush with lots of purple flowers.
Endless Summer
Oil on Gallery Wrapped Canvas
12” x 12”
The canvas is 1.5” thick and is meant to be hung without a frame. Some painters paint the edge with a complimentary color but I like to carry the painting over the edges onto the side of the canvas.

I hope you like Endless Summer. I’ve got a couple more paintings in progress that I will be posting soon.

A truly gorgeous painting and tribute gift! Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers too. I like the blue, purple, pink and white flowers equally.
Major points for painting over the edges of the canvas - never saw that done before @dabeckster
