A few days ago, I decided to take a look at the paintings and illustrations of the Renaissance era since I wanted to make a drawing with a similar theme, and there will never be a better source of inspiration than the art of the great artists.
After some time of enjoying the works of Leonardo Da Vinci and company, and being clear about the concept I wanted to draw, I decided to go to Pinterest to look for inspiration of faces in photographs of models.
After looking at several images, I found a male model that fit the concept I wanted to present, so I decided to start drawing. I wanted to illustrate a fallen angel, elegant and delicate, but respecting the darkness that surrounds the concept. Without further ado, I present to you the step by step of "The Fallen Angel".
Step by Step:
First, I made the rustic sketch of the angel, representing its wings and pose in a rather quick way. Then, I decided to polish the sketch, defining its wings, face, hair and attire.
After that, I decided to focus on the line art, defining more clearly his facial features, details in his wings, body and concept in general. Then, I continued with the coloring of the angel, using as a base strong colors characterized by having a sepia tone. I started with the shadows, then I continued with his base colors until I completed our protagonist.
After finishing the coloring of the angel, I continued with the coloring of the rock where he is resting.
Then, I focused on coloring the background. I wanted him to have a hellish storm behind him, having fallen from the kingdom of heaven and finding himself in that strange new world.
And finally, I added a blurred red mist at the height of his feet, showing the dirty air of that new world, and added my signature at the top of the drawing to finish the illustration.
I loved the end result. I really enjoyed playing with this "corrupt angelic character" concept, while imagining what her story could be. I am also very proud of the coloring and the details of the drawing in general. It's a work I'm very excited to present, so I hope you like it as much as I do. Remember to drink lots of water and be happy. Best regards!
