Desde el día de ayer, he estado viendo un maratón de películas de halloween, adelantándome un poco a mi festividad favorita del año. También he consumido mucho contenido del estilo, y la verdad me apetecía dibujar algo con vibras fantasmagóricas.
Fue así como se me ocurrió dibujar a una bruja, inspirándome en el ambiente lúgubre y de terrorífico de los especiales de halloween. A nuestra protagonista decidí llamarla: Regina, La Dama Roja, por lo que, sin mas dilación, les presento el Paso a Paso de mi nuevo trabajo. ¡Espero les guste!
Since yesterday, I've been watching a marathon of Halloween movies, getting a little ahead of my favorite holiday of the year. I've also been consuming a lot of halloween content, and I really wanted to draw something with a spooky vibe.
That's how I came up with the idea of drawing a witch, inspired by the gloomy and terrifying atmosphere of halloween specials. I decided to call our protagonist: Regina, The Red Lady, so, without further ado, I present to you the Step by Step of my new work, I hope you like it!
Step by Step:
Lo primero que hice, fue realizar un boceto rústico de Regina. Quería que tuviera una inclinación diferente a las que usualmente utilizo, por lo que me inspiré en una fotografía que encontré en pinterest para el boceto, ilustrando dicha inclinación.
The first thing I did was to make a rustic sketch of Regina. I wanted her to have a different slant than the ones I usually use, so I was inspired by a picture I found on pinterest for the sketch, illustrating that slant.
Luego, decidí pulir los detalles en el boceto rústico, para continuar con el Line Art final. Quería que tuviera un parche en su ojo derecho, ya que consideraba interesante imaginar que en el pasado se habría enfrentado a duelo con algún mago o bruja.
Then, I decided to polish the details in the rustic sketch, to continue with the final line art. I wanted her to have a patch over her right eye, as I thought it was interesting to imagine that in the past she had fought a duel with a wizard or witch.
Continué con el coloreado, comenzando por nuestra protagonista. Quería que tuviera sombras marcadas, por lo que coloqué el foco de luz a sus espaldas, para poder generar el efecto deseado. Usé una paleta de color con tonalidad rojiza, ya que quería que Regina se encontrase en una especie de inframundo o limbo para brujas.
I continued with the coloring, starting with our protagonist. I wanted her to have strong shadows, so I placed the light bulb behind her back, in order to generate the desired effect. I used a color palette with a reddish tone, since I wanted Regina to be in a kind of underworld or limbo for witches.
Al haber completado el coloreado de nuestra protagonista, quise cambiar el color de las lineas que la rodeaban, intentando presentar un dibujo más interesante. Con esta idea en mente, cambié los bordes de color negro de algunas lineas, por lineas de color que representasen el reflejo de la iluminación detrás de Regina, intentando generar una especie de profundidad y enfoque fotográfico.
Having completed the coloring of our protagonist, I wanted to change the color of the lines around her, trying to present a more interesting drawing. With this idea in mind, I changed the black borders of some lines, for colored lines that represent the reflection of the lighting behind Regina, trying to generate a kind of depth and photographic focus.
Luego, decidí empezar a colorear el ambiente. Agregué una especie de bruma alrededor de Regina y agregué un fondo de color rojizo que representase el inframundo. Luego, para culminar, agregué mi firma en la parte superior del lienzo.
Then, I decided to start coloring the environment. I added a kind of mist around Regina and added a reddish background to represent the underworld. Then, to finish, I added my signature at the top of the canvas.
Y de esta manera, doy por culminada por mi publicación. La verdad que me gustó mucho el resultado final de la ilustración y el ambiente que logré darle. Me siento satisfecho con el diseño de Regina, ya que considero presenta una hermosa chica con toques oscuros interesantes, que era justo lo que quería. Amaría leer sus comentarios para conocer su opinión, y espero de corazón les haya gustado. ¡Un fuerte abrazo y beban mucha agua!
And in this way, I consider my publication completed. The truth is that I really liked the final result of the illustration and the atmosphere I managed to give it. I feel satisfied with Regina's design, as I consider it presents a beautiful girl with interesting dark touches, which was just what I wanted.
