Invisible dreams

Feliz fin de semana para todos. Hoy quise experimentar un poco haciendo un retrato con tonalidades cálidas y un fondo oscuro, pensaba que sería una combinación algo arriesgada y que quizás no sea la mejor, pero realmente tenia la curiosidad, entonces eso hice y quise hacer este retrato acompañado de unas burbujas flotando alrededor, creo que solo una vez dibuje burbujas y ya fue hace mas de un año asi que quería también practicar un poco eso, la verdad fue bastante complicado, siento que aun quedo visualmente pesada la burbuja pero hice lo mejor que pude, quizás no es uno de mis retratos favoritos pero aprendí mucho de este trabajo, espero que les guste.

Today I wanted to experiment a little bit making a portrait with warm tones and a dark background, I thought it would be a risky combination and maybe not the best, but I was really curious, so I did that and I wanted to make this portrait with some bubbles floating around, I think I only drew bubbles once and it was more than a year ago so I wanted to practice that a little bit, the truth was quite complicated, I feel that the bubble is still visually heavy but I did the best I could, maybe it's not one of my favorite portraits but I learned a lot from this work, I hope you like it.

Proceso/Process

Después de realizar el boceto elegí los colores a trabajar, normalmente me siento muy incomoda con esta gama de tonos cálidos tan saturados, pero de vez en cuando es bueno salir de la zona de confort, comencé a aplicar los colores en todo el rostro y luego aplique una nueva capa donde añadí más tonos dándole la forma por completo a la cara, para luego mezclarlos y dar un acabado suave a la piel, para el cabello quise aplicar un negro puro como base.

After making the sketch I chose the colors to work with, normally I feel very uncomfortable with this range of warm tones so saturated, but from time to time is good to get out of the comfort zone, I began to apply the colors all over the face and then apply a new layer where I added more tones giving the shape completely to the face, then mix them and give a soft finish to the skin, for the hair I wanted to apply a pure black as a base.

En el fondo puse un color solido de un tono marrón oscuro desaturado, luego comencé a añadir unas iluminaciones que afectan desde el fondo hasta el primer plano del dibujo, di detalles de luz al cabello con tonalidades amarillas que harían ese efecto de rebote de luz del fondo, con un pincel de textura de acuarela añadí algunas pinceladas en el fondo aplicando amarillo, naranja y rojo, luego pinte una de las burbujas, para esto primero dibuje un circulo con un color parecido al tono oscuro de fondo, cree una mascara de recorte y comencé a pintar los bordes y rellenar con diferentes tonos simulando la burbuja, duplique esta burbuja varias veces cambiando el tamaño y rotándola para colocarlas del lado derecho también, para finalizar realice una edición de toda la imagen porque realmente me estaba dando mucha molestia tanta saturación y aunque el cambio no fue tan brusco si baje un poco la saturación haciendo los colores un poquito mas neutros.

In the background I put a solid color of a desaturated dark brown tone, then I began to add some illuminations that affect from the background to the foreground of the drawing, I gave details of light to the hair with yellow tones that would make that effect of bouncing light from the background, with a watercolor texture brush I added some brushstrokes in the background applying yellow, orange and red, then I painted one of the bubbles, for this I first drew a circle with a color similar to the dark tone of the background, I created a clipping mask and began to paint the edges and fill with different tones simulating the bubble, I duplicated this bubble several times changing the size and rotating it to place them on the right side too, to finish I made an edition of the whole image because I was really bothered by so much saturation and although the change was not so abrupt I lowered a little the saturation making the colors a little more neutral.
