I apologize to those of my friends who prefer a little more verbiage…I’m super exhausted as this week comes to a close, but want to keep up with my sketch-a-day thing that I just started yesterday.
AZL DAY 02: 30 AUG 2024
Yesterday I decided to try doing at least one sketch per day. I would love to see how much I can improve if I do this every day for a year!
This first one is just a mishmash of sketches based on different photos I’ve taken recently. Sketching from a photo is a lot easier than from real life, but it’s certainly a handicap as well.
Thumbnails of my recent crow-tography
I’ve been thinking of crow related comics lately, but feel a bit limited by my snarling lack of ability. I spend a lot of time pondering the thought processes and internal structure/heirarchy of the murder. I can picture the comics in my mind, but when I try to draw them the vision escapes me. If I do this every day though, I should become better.
For this next one, I drew from my imagination.
@maxwellmarcusart suggested going away from lined paper. I like this suggstion, but whenever I try, sketch paper feels so fancy and formal that I lose my uninhibited expresion somehow. Obviously that’s all in my head, just something I need to overcome, but currently that is something that challenges me. See how the lines get cleaner? It almost looks like a coloring book or something. It’s like I’m being too cautious. This one was from a photo.
Finally, this self portrait was done using a mirror…I think it looks more like the cover of Jethro Tull’s *Aqualung” than me…or I hope so I guess lol
And here’s another mish mash page of “from real life” sketches:
…anyway that’s it for today. Thank you for looking!
Thanks for checking out some more of my work! As always, I hope you enjoyed witnessing as much as I enjoyed creating!
