Saludos amigos de #hive y #sketchbook, espero hayan tenido una maravillosa semana, el día de hoy comparto con ustedes este dibujo de una orquídea, la cual es la flor nacional en Venezuela, siendo uno de nuestros tres símbolos naturales u ornamentales. A inicios de semana la maestra de mi primita de segundo grado me pidió el favor de realizarle los símbolos naturales, me dio anime y papel bond, para realizar unos pequeños carteles para decorar su salón, teniendo cada cartel el dibujo de uno de estos símbolos, los cuales realice previamente en hojas blancas, para después recortarlas y pegarlas en los carteles (Pero eso ya lo explicaré en otra publicación).

Greetings friends of #hive and #sketchbook, I hope you had a wonderful week. Today I share with you this drawing of an orchid, which is the national flower in Venezuela, being one of our three natural ornamental symbols. At the beginning of the week my little cousin's second grade teacher asked me the favor of making the natural symbols for her, she gave me some animé and bond paper, to make some small posters to decorate her classroom, each poster having the drawing of one of these symbols, which I made previously on white sheets, to later cut them out and paste them on the posters (But I will explain that in another publication).

Esta orquídea, para ser más específico la Orquídea Cattleya Mossiae, es la flor nacional de Venezuela, representando la feminidad y la belleza, siendo decretada el 23 de mayo del año 1951 flor nacional, usualmente está flor se utiliza para adornar la Cruz de mayo, en la festividad con el mismo nombre (Cruz de mayo), una fiesta tradicional religiosa que se celebra el 3 de mayo, en dónde la cruz de madera que se adorna hace referencia a la cruz de madera donde murió Jesús. La orquídea es muy vistosa frente a los otros dos símbolos naturales, debido a que el color de los otros dos es amarillo, y está tiene tonos entre morado a violeta, los cuales resaltan más cuando hay tonos amarillos en su entorno.

This orchid, to be more specific the Cattleya Mossiae Orchid, is the national flower of Venezuela, representing femininity and beauty, being decreed on May 23, 1951 national flower, usually this flower is used to decorate the Cross of May, in the festivity with the same name (Cross of May), a traditional religious festivity that is celebrated on May 3, where the wooden cross that is decorated makes reference to the wooden cross where Jesus died. The orchid is very colorful compared to the other two natural symbols, because the color of the other two is yellow, and this one has tones between purple and violet, which stand out more when there are yellow tones in its environment.

Realice la base del dibujo con el lápiz 2b, haciendo la silueta de los pétalos de la orquídea y de las hojas.

I made the base of the drawing with the 2b pencil, making the silhouette of the orchid's petals and leaves.

Con el mismo lápiz empecé a definir el dibujo, empezando con los pétalos y terminando de dar forma a las hojas.

With the same pencil I started to define the drawing, starting with the petals and finishing with the shape of the leaves.

Con el bolígrafo realice el trabajo de línea en todo el dibujo, después borre las líneas hechas con lápiz para empezar la fase de coloreado.

With the pen I did the line work all over the drawing, then erased the pencil lines to start the coloring phase.

Apliqué primero una base suave de color en todo el dibujo, especificando el tono dominante en cada area.

First apply a soft base color throughout the drawing, specifying the dominant tone in each area.

Detalle primero los pétalos de la orquídea, realizando degradado entre morado y violeta, y resaltando con otros tonos similares o más rojizos.

First detail the petals of the orchid, making a gradient between purple and violet, and highlighting with other similar or more reddish tones.

Después detalle las hojas con diversos tonos de verde y detalles de los con el color amarillo, para la sombra en el dibujo aplique morado y negro.

Then I detailed the leaves with different shades of green and details of the leaves with yellow. For the shadow in the drawing I applied purple and black.

Este dibujo me tomó aproximadamente una hora y media en realizarlo, recordando lo genial que es hacer flores y plantas, y el juego de colores que llevan tanto pétalos como hojas, sin duda me gustó mucho el resultado de este dibujo, el cual próximamente pegaré en un afiche.

This drawing took me about an hour and a half to make, remembering how great it is to make flowers and plants, and the play of colors that carry both petals and leaves, no doubt I really liked the result of this drawing, which I will soon paste on a poster.
