I still do not agree with the voting system but since I do not have the ability to change its operation, criticizing it and complaining would be absurd.
The system is highly linked to money, to rewards, unlike other networks where a Like is just that, here a Like has an economic value that derives in that other aspects lose importance, such as the Follow, the comments, the Dislike (Downvote), the reblog and this is what really worries me.
I would like to find a method where all actions have a value and make users interested, that's why I like HiveBuzz because it gives you a badge for commenting, posting or having your comment as the most voted, it gives a non-monetary value to what is done on the platform and for me, is the way to avoid that Hive becomes this platform where 'I will vote on Lana Rhoades post because I know the curators follow her and I will win if I vote her before them'' without even reading and interacting with her content. Some time ago I thought of a way, but it turned out to be very restrictive and I know it would destroy the Trails, exhaust the curators and change the platform a lot:
Imagine that to cast a vote (positive or negative), you must write a comment of a certain number of characters according to your reputation, the more reputation the less characters and vice versa.
In the case that I Joseph, with my reputation of 66 (for example) did not write a comment of at least 240 characters, my vote would reward the user who created the content but I would NOT receive a healing reward.
You keep the voting system, but in my opinion you would be giving the obligation to others to interact in order to receive profit, this in turn generating more comments, debates, reblogs and indirectly helping the main creator to know what he liked and what he can improve of his content.
I say all this thinking about the main question Why should you get more upvotes?, and that question makes me ask myself Do I want more votes or more interaction?
