If we can make it why not buy it instead?

The summer season is starting for us now and at the same time in our province, the presence of strong winds is one of the favorite seasons of our youth. And because it's windy, it's trendy among young people to fly kites, including my naughty children.

A few weeks ago, my eldest insisted his father make a kite several times. And because he is not experienced in making these and his father is too busy with work, so his promise is not really fulfilled every time. So as a mother, I see my son is very jealous of other young children who fly their kites so I thought while I was still in the city processing my papers for work I thought I should look for kites there because I know many vendors sell cheap prices.

And that's why I bought one. I only bought one first because I knew the youngest didn't know how to play it yet. I bought the kite in the city for 83 pesos equivalent to 1.52$. The children were still asleep when I got home, so their father was happy to assemble it before they woke up. He knew that his son would be happy because he finally had his kite and they didn't have to ask him to make them one anymore this time.

When the two woke up, I couldn't really measure how happy they were, but I seemed to be a little worried because the eldest said I was going to fly that, but the youngest said "it's mine!" I keep laughing because it seems like something is wrong later. And since it was still early for work and it was the weekend and no class, I told hubby to accompany the two first.

Hubby pulled the tie while the eldest threw the kite into the air to fly. They also tried several times to fly the kite because the wind was still weak, but finally, the wind was steady so our children were very happy after.

I bought the eagle-shaped one. That's why it's so beautiful to look at compared to other kites, so my son is very proud of himself while flying with other children here.

Now my problem has been alleviated but it seems that my problem will also increase because now that the children have kites to play with, they won't go away even when the weather is already hot.

How about you guys have you ever experienced this kind of stuff at a young age?

Hello @luckylaica
There's something rewarding about making your own toys. That was most of the joy for me as a child. However, I think 83 pesos is a pretty decent price, and definitely worth it, as your boys will enjoy running around (even if they fight for it sometimes).
I've always loved kites.
Enjoy:))

Hello Camille, how are you there, I hope you are doing well. You're right there, it would have been much more fun if it was our own work, but it was unfortunate and we weren't blessed with many talents, so we bought it for the children's enjoyment. If we also buy from the locals here, the charge is more expensive, around 2$. The two are happy now but my head really hurts because it's hard to hold back no one wants to lose 😄. Anyway, thanks for visiting Cam, take care there always.

This weekend I saw my local community centre was offering free kite making classes. I think they were Afghanistan kites because I know Afghanistan kites are quite well known and we have some Afghanistan refugees in town. Unfortunately I didn't have time to go but from what I saw, the people seem to be having a good time.

Maybe you can even get your sons to draw something and stick it in the kite, I'm sure they'd be so happy to see that as well!!

Wow, thanks for the simplistic information, I didn't think Afghan people love to play kites too. From what you said, I want to try your idea because it sounds good. Maybe I'll force hubby to make one that can use your idea when there's time, I believe the kids will be more excited and maybe happier. Let's see if this is possible this coming day off.

Wow! The kite have a great design. Good job to those brain who had that idea.

83.00 that's good to make our kids happy. I don't know if there is like that here.

I just discovered this community too.

Thanks, nowadays people are very creative, if we used to use materials that were found around us to make kites and we had to spend time, now they are ready to assemble to be flown right away. Time has really changed a lot.

Yes, when I was still young, I also used to make my own kite using some plastic cellophane and a broom stick then use some threads.

My brother still loves to play kites even if he is in his 30s

really? that's fun to hear. Here, there are also a few fathers who join the children in playing with kites and they seem to enjoy it too.

Anyway, thanks for dropping by. Best regards!

same here some fathers still play kites too.
My pleasure

How beautiful, it has the shape of an eagle, so it must be wonderful to see it flying, I love it!
