Happy Meals Toys | An Excuse to Become a Child Again [ENG]-[ES]

As a kid I usually went to McDonald's many times, I loved to have fun in the park and then go to the table to eat, but first I would open that colorful box and find out what toy I got in the box. For a while, that box was like magic, no matter what the toy was, I always ended up happy and enjoying my new toy for weeks.

De niño solía ir muchas veces a McDonald's, me encantaba divertirme en el parque y luego ir a la mesa a comer, pero primer abría aquella caja colorida y descubría que juguete me había salido en la caja. Por un tiempo, esa caja tenía como algo mágico, no importaba cual fuera el juguete, siempre terminaba feliz y disfrutando mi juguete nuevo por semanas.

Cleaning my room, I opened a bag in which I have some toys from my childhood. Some of these toys are from 1994-1995 onwards, when I was a kid and my parents took me to buy Happy Meals. In my memories there are a lot of toys, but I know that not all of them survived the time, a child who gave them a lot of use and some toys that were given to nephews or friends.

Limpiando mi cuarto, abrí una bolsa en la cual tengo algos juguetes de mi infancia. Algunos de estos juguetes son del año 1994-1995 en adelante, cuando era niño y mis padres me llevaban a comprar una cajita feliz. En mis recuerdos hay muchísimos juguetes, pero se que no todos sobrevivieron al tiempo, a un niño que les dio muchísimo uso y algunos juguetes que fueron regalados a sobrinos o amigos.

Opening this bag of toys was for me a trip to the past, each one belongs to a different collection and year, it can remind me of happy moments with my family. You can see the marks of the use I gave to these toys, some are incomplete, but functional. Definitely the materials used to make these toys are of very good quality. For a moment I thought of Toy Story and those toys that could have been stored in the attic LOL.

Abrir esta bolsa de juguetes fue para mi viajar al pasado, cada uno pertenece a una colección y año diferente, puede recordar momentos felices con mi familia. Se nota las marcas del uso que les di a estos juguetes, algunos están incompletos, pero funcionales. Definitivamente los materiales con que hacían estos juguetes son de muy buena calidad. Por un momento pensé en Toy Story y aquellos juguetes que podían haber estado guardado en el ático LOL.

McDonald's knew how to catch kids, burgers without veggies, ketchup, a playground with slides and a toy. For a child it's all a joyful experience and maybe for a parent it's a normal night out. Remember how many times you cried in front of a toy store to get a toy? It was easier to ask to go eat at McDonald's so you could have fun, eat hamburgers, ice cream and they would buy you a toy. Thank you McDonald's.

McDonald's sabía como atrapar a los niños, hamburguesas sin vegetales, kétchup, un parque con toboganes y un juguete. Para un niño es toda una experiencia de alegría y quizás para un padre es una salida normal. ¿Recuerdas cuantas veces lloraste frente a una juguetería para que te comprasen algún juguete? Era más fácil pedir ir a comer a McDonald's y así te divertías, comías hamburguesas, helado y te compraban un juguete. Gracias McDonald's.

I'm glad to have some of these toys at home, I once sat down with my nephew to play with him and told him what collection each one was from, or at least as far as I could remember. My nephew has gone to McDonald's for lunch, but the toys now are related to the movies of the moment or even Pokémon. For some reason, Ronald McDonald and his friends were no longer the center of attention for kids.

Me alegra tener algunos juguetes de estos en casa, una vez me senté con mi sobrino a jugar con el y le conté de que colección era cada uno, o por lo menos hasta donde recordaba. Mi sobrino ha ido a comer a McDonald's, pero los juguetes de ahora tiene relación con las películas del momento o inclusive Pokémon. Por alguna razón, Ronald Mcdonald y sus amigos, ya no eran el centro de atención para los niños.

When we were kids, we loved to collect items and McDonald's knew this and brought out their collectible toys. I was obsessed with wanting to have them all, so weekends were my happy time. Sometimes I would get a duplicate and my father would talk to the salesman to exchange the toy. They didn't do this or they were jealous about it because they had rules about putting a specific toy per day. I guess to get them to buy more Happy Meals and get more money.

Cuando éramos niños, nos encantaba coleccionar objetos y McDonald's sabia esto y sacaba sus juguetes en colección. Me obsesionaba con querer tenerlos todos, así que los fines de semanas eran mi momento feliz. A veces me tocaba alguno repetido y mi padre hablaba con el vendedor para que nos cambiara el juguete. Esto no lo hacían o era celosos con esto ya que tenían reglas de colocar algún juguete en especifico por día. Me imagino por tema de hacer que fueran a comprar mas cajita feliz y así obtener más dinero.

Truly, my childhood with McDonald's was one of happiness and I thank my parents for dedicating time and having the resources to spend on that. Once I remember that all my brothers and dad went to a baseball game. I didn't go to that game because I preferred to go with my mom to McDonald's, just to see what I got in the Happy Meals. My favorite team won that day, but the Power Ranger action figure had captured my attention.

De verdad que mi infancia junto a McDonald's fue de felicidad y agradezco a mis padres por dedicarme tiempo y tener los recursos para gastar en eso. Una vez recuerdo que todos mis hermanos y papá se fueron a un juego de beisbol. Yo no fui a ese juego porque preferí ir con mama a McDonald's, tan solo para saber que me había salido en la cajita feliz. Ese día gano mi equipo favorito, pero la figura de acción de Power Ranger había captado toda mi atención.

I wanted to write this as a memory to those old times where the simplicity of things made you happy. Playing in a park and a toy that, as soon as it did something, gave you an indescribable happiness. I think at some point I will go back to McDonald's and order a Happy Meals and enjoy that little burger with pickles and find out if it still has that old magic. Quise escribir esto como memoria a esos viejos tiempos en donde la sencillez de las cosas te hacía feliz. Jugar en un parque y un juguete que, a penas hacia algo, te daban una felicidad indescriptible. Creo que en algún momento volveré a comer en McDonald's y pediré una cajita feliz y disfrutar de esa pequeña hamburguesa con pepinillos y descubrir si todavía tiene esa magia de antes.
