One minute, family’s your greatest ally, The next, it’s your battlefield. Watching Solo Sikoa lead his charge on SmackDown got me thinking about this messy thing we call loyalty, and how power poisons it. You’d think a family is about protecting each other, but apparently not. Solo, driven by this craving to be “acknowledged,” couldn’t care less about the unity he supposedly wants to save.
What kind of a leader says, "join me or else"?
Oh wait, I know, a Dictator! Now I'm thinking it kinda runs in the family, or just maybe, whoever wears the ula fala just ends up being an ass hole. We really gotta consider if there's some demons in that thing.
Anyways, I’ve seen this dynamic in real life, people twisting loyalty to serve their own ego. You start off fighting for your family’s survival, but somewhere along the way, it turns into a fight for your own supremacy. The same ones you used to stand with suddenly become obstacles in your path. I remember when I had a falling out with a close friend over control. Neither of us wanted to bend, both of us believing we were saving something that maybe didn’t need saving at all.
Power destroys connection, plain and simple.
The interesting scene to me last night was when Roman Reigns, the once-dominant Tribal Chief, crumbled under Solo's demand for submission. Roman acknowledged Solo in a way that spelt desperation (or calculated manipulation in my opinion). He was begging for a solution, only to be mocked, and it showed how fragile even the most powerful can become when they try to regain control.
So Basically, it was Last Week all over again but with a twist of drama. Reigns got stomped, Jimmy was taken hostage, and well Solo got a loud "Solo Sucks" from the millions (gotta say that in Rock's voice).
I learned last night that when the idea of “family” is used as leverage, it’s not family anymore. Maybe loyalty’s just another word for control.
Makes you wonder if it’s worth the fight.
