What hit me in the feels during the recent WWE live event was seeing AJ Styles in Columbus given that standing ovation. Having followed AJ's career since his early days, one can only appreciate the distance his journey has taken him.
The first time I saw him tear it up was in TNA, and I thought, "This guy's gonna be huge."
Hell, was I ever right!
I was jumping for joy when he made it to WWE, like a hometown hero getting up into the big leagues.
And now that Cody Rhodes has officially called him the best wrestler hailing from the great State of Georgia? That's something special.

We have had great wrestling minds and talents come out of Georgia, mind you. But AJ's different; his in-ring prowess is phenomenal, pun intended.
What hits home for me is the fact that AJ has been contemplating retiring. It slaps us in the face, you know? We always think these guys will be around for us, slowly forgetting they are just mere mortals.
Eventually, time catches up with all.

I'm definitely excited for his return to SmackDown. Part of me hopes that this is not his last run, but if it is, I want it to be legendary. AJ deserves a storyline that honors him by showcasing his legacy. Maybe he gets in a feud with an up-and-coming star? Maybe he reunites The Club? It could be an epic comeback, if you will.
Whatever happens, I'll be glued to my screen every Friday night. AJ Styles is not just the best wrestler from Georgia; he's straight-up one of the best. And for this, I am forever thankful as a fan to witness such a glorious career.
