I was on the edge of my seat last night watching an episode of Friday Night SmackDown, and it had something that turned into a life-changing episode on The Bloodline story. I feel it will be etched in history as one of the most defining moments in WWE. It was an "Acknowledgment Ceremony" by Solo Sikoa for engraving his status as the new Tribal Chief.
What transpired was nothing but explosive.
This felt so much like a changing of the guard right in front of my eyes when I saw Solo Sikoa acknowledged not just by Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa but also by his new enforcer, Jacob Fatu. What set the drama up, though, was the fact that Paul Heyman wouldn't acknowledge him.
In an ultimate act of loyalty, Paul Heyman has decided not to back Solo Sikoa. For a man who has been the voice behind Roman Reigns and the mastermind behind The Bloodline's dominance, it was quite a bold move, one that came with heavy ramifications.
At what cost did Heyman pay for his loyalty?
Watching a 58-year-old man whose background isn't athletic take those bumps, especially that nasty bump through the announcer's table, I had to tip my hat to him. That was hard-hitting and one of the more striking moments due to establishing real stakes within the Bloodline. We might not see Heyman for some time now, which further deepens the layers in this story.
This raises many questions.
Could Roman Reigns come back and protect Heyman from harm to take what's rightfully his?
How will this differ regarding The Bloodline now that Solo Sikoa stands as the new Tribal Chief?
That tension between Reigns and Sikoa is thick, so I want to know where things are heading. This storyline is beating at new heights.
For me, the bottom line is that Friday Night SmackDown has held on to this saga pretty well. The Bloodline inner war, Paul Heyman's loyalty, and Solo Sikoa coming into his own are all combining for a really great story. I have a hard time tearing my eyes away each week as the characters deepen and develop more complex relationships. Can't wait for the next one to find out how this drama will play itself out.
