We're Slowly Successfully Editing DNA Now

When people bring up the topic of DNA editing I’m usually not sure whether to be hopeful or scared because we're entering very delicate and dangerous territories here.

Genetic editing is something so powerful that it could change the world, he Human race and all of life but it could also completely ruin it. I see it as being more deadly than a nuclear weapon but could also be the best medical breakthrough to cure or treat so many diseases like cystic fibrosis or sickle cell disease.

A breakthrough with this kind of technology would mean no more painful treatments and also no more fear of passing down problematic genetic conditions to your children. Infact it could go so far as determining the height and size of your unborn children. I would definitely go for that treatment so my son doesn't end up as a 5ft 7 man like myself.

But usually when I think of the positive sides, my mind immediately shifts to the possibility of this kind of tech going into the hands of terrible people that can do exactly what the person who created antivirus did.

They could use the tech to create genetic problems and create a solution and make people pay for it and if people can't pay, they suffer, that's how bad this can get.

We may end up having a world where some people can afford to edit out flaws in their body or the body of their children while others without money can’t. That’s not just dangerous, it’s a whole dystopian.

I hope this technology can be controlled because advancement is inevitable. Companies want money and whatever they'll create to make more money they're do something Acknowledging the dangers of their innovation going south.

I’ve seen people I care about struggle with illness that this kind of tech can solve so knowing there’s a chance they wouldn’t have to suffer like that is hope. If you've watched the first Spider-Man movie, you'll be familiar with this quote "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility"

Maybe scientists think they understand more about God's design than they actually do.

Mandating mRNA gene therapy on every citizen crossed the line for me.

I think that man trying to play God won't turn out well here.

It's a very risky thing but that's been the case with scientific discovery since the beginning of time. I hope for good to come out of this friend
