this is my kind of post :)
you stated.. "If his analysis is accurate, this makes me wonder why a generation that boasts about innovation in communication and is interconnected and characterized by sexual permissiveness remains lonely and sexless."
In my opinion.. because things of value are rarely obtained by taking shortcuts.
I'm not suggesting that one cannot obtain value by means of technology... on the contrary I have made some of the most valuable relationships in my 48 years - through this crazy tool called the internet. haha
However, the WAY its used, and why - is really important.
If someone tends to be a person who uses the quick and dirty methods if offline life - it will be no different in online life. The tool doesnt define the person - it just magnifies the characteristics already there.
we have too many people in this world that prefer to not do the work - and just want the illusion.. the facsimile... and think they will be satisfied for the counterfeit - only to be worse off from before the began.
The truth is partially in the reason you mentioned from the article.. but i wouldn't personally phrase it "diminishing influence of religion". We know that religion doesn't save. Relationship does.
People are looking for Truth, but settling for distraction.
When God opens eyes... revolution happens :)
really great post here. loved it thoroughly!
Thanks for the insight.
I agree. For a time, it puzzled me why some people behave and talk differently online from their actual meeting with people in person. Perhaps, the tool just exposes what was hidden inside.
I believe you're right... the tool exposes the truth.
happy to say that everyone I've met are completely in sync with their "online" persona... and I'm also very happy that they've said the same about me! hahaha
I think over time - you can tell the people who are genuine and worthy of your time.
