Planning for the Future Matters

It is imperative to plan for the future. Some people say that you can’t use the past to predict the future. I totally agree with them. The past cannot be used as a template when moving forward.

Yesterday, I was busy with plans on my future. When I woke up, I had breakfast before sitting down to make an outline of what was to be done in the day. It came down to my mind that there were errands that needed completing and so I made a list of what to do in order.

By examining past experiences, we can learn from our errors. For instance, not preparing enough and getting poor grades may teach us how to study more next time; but it does not mean that we should stop studying because of failing once; rather, one should never give up and continue learning for better results next time.

Another factor to consider is that the future cannot be planned by the past as things change all of time. The world is always in a state of flux and we must learn to adjust ourselves accordingly. This is because what worked in the past may not work now. For instance, maybe people used to find jobs through newspapers. However, most people today are finding jobs online. It’s like an invisible angel sitting on your shoulder: does he send you information about opportunities? Would you finally get a job if you only looked back?

Preparing for the future does not come easy; it requires thinking about what one wants and making steps towards achieving it. For example, if we want to become doctors, there is no way around going to school and working hard. You can’t just wish that somehow you will wake up being a doctor.

In planning for the long run, we must think about ever changing needs and desires so as to accomplish them after all. These goals should be set and then plotted upon until completion; perhaps buying a car would be our concern of saving money. We need to have a plan in order to save some cash every month till we gather enough amount. In case we hope someday or another day maybe we’ll have enough money? But this could never happen.

Also, when we plan for the future we feel more of a sense of control. Plans are our guides towards reaching our objectives; therefore they help us know what to do next. Our plans free us from anxiety since they can handle any eventuality.

Therefore, planning for the future is vital. Lessons can be drawn from history but not replicated with expectations that things will remain static. Desire and deliberation on how to attain our desires are paramount here. With this in mind, we would be able to face tomorrow head-on.
