Keeping an Open Mind

I strongly opine that judging people too hastily should be avoided because nobody knows who might turn out to be there for you when the chips are down. Occasionally, we find ourselves rescued from the brink of death by complete strangers.

Once upon a time, I found myself in a tight corner and had no idea who to talk to. Desperation and loneliness engulfed me. However, when I was least expecting it, one person whom I never saw eye-to-eye with came out to save me. It caught me off guard, at the very least.

From that encounter, I learnt an all-important lesson: don’t ever discard people. You may think you hate someone or they hate you but can never tell when they may surprise you.

In my opinion, it is crucial to be open-minded and give others a chance notwithstanding their previous badness towards you. As it turns out, they might be facing tough times or support you in the future.

Again, I don’t mean that we should trust everybody without being sure about their intentions. On the other hand, we need to protect ourselves from persons who might want to hurt us. However, this does not necessarily mean that anyone who does not get along with us is a foe.

For instance, the people we think least of are often our greatest strength providers. Therefore even if such a person has previously injured you or you do not have anything in common with them, give them a chance; who knows? They might just surprise you.

Finally, I feel that one should never dismiss people so fast. Who knows whom we will eventually rely on when times get tough? Consequently let’s remain open-minded and give this people a chance even if sometimes they have been nasty to us in the past: after all, what if your worst enemy becomes your savior?
