I am back here in this creative kitchen corner, sooner than I thought. And again with the same fruit that you saw in my latest post. π
When I arrived at my parents this morning, I found them in the garden, on the ladder, picking fruits from the tree and filling the third bowl with figs.
The other day we decided to try making a cake. Now, it is not the one I intended, but another one, like a sourdough pie, where the fruit is arranged from above and then baked in the oven. Mom mixed 350 grams of flour with one egg yolk, half a package of fresh yeast dissolved in a little milk and sugar, and a little oil. I asked her for the exact recipe... but she says it is all like improvisation. π
When the dough rose, she spread the mass with a rolling pin and we placed it in a baking pan.

We covered the dough, once placed in the pan, with chopped plums and figs. The original recipe is with plums, and we ate it many times when we were children. Back then, my grandmother used to make it for lunch, when there wasn't much other choice. Honestly, this is simple and the ingredients are not expensive. With some soup, we weren't complaining about this menu. Those were different times.

Since this is our first time trying this pie with figs, my mom decided to make just a smaller portion of the entire pie for the experiment. You know, if it fails, at least we have some edible part with plums. π

The next step was to sprinkle the fruit with cinnamon, and cover it with sour cream into which we mixed a little sugar.

Ready for baking:

After half an hour of baking in the previously heated oven, I took out the pie and let it cool down. With a big knife, I cut the baked pie into pieces.

It is nicer if I serve it in a little plate. The result is not bad at all, actually, it is very tasty! I think next time my mom can make the whole pie of figs, without any fear.
The experiment was successful - the patients who ate from the pie survived. π

That cake looks delicious!π Clearly your mom doesn't need a recipe, so many times she has taken that mixture to the oven that practice gives her just the right measurements π₯°...cooking is an art and even more so when it is done with love. Glad you are there visiting family. Now I am seeing that I have missed several of your posts. Hope you are having a wonderful time. Un abrazo π€.
No recipe is the best recipe π
That is true, the more times you make something you don't need anymore the exact recipe but the experience is what is guiding.
Yes, we are visiting our families and no worries, it seems I posted quite a lot lately, and I read in one of the posts of Nanixxx that there are struggles with internet in Cuba, you have to save, please no worries. But I would be glad to read one day about the experience you had with studying this summer βοΈ ;))
Muy pronto ππ€
When in doubt, one portion of figs and one edible portion haha that's a good strategy to avoid losing the whole cake haha π Love it! β€οΈ
The experiment went well, it couldn't go wrong with that aspect, in the picture it looks tasty π it couldn't taste bad, now that I know the patients survived, I want a slice, porfis π¦ hahaha
The human patients survived, yes, I guess the winged patients with feathers would survive too π, then I will pack some pieces of pie together with the figs so Buhito takes to you and your mom ;)
that's one delicious way to fight an invasion!
Definitely, one of the delicious ways π
I'm hungry now π
And you see, there are plums hahaha π
What a beautiful experiment you maked. Can I tasteπ
Of course, I hope the screen lets you take that piece of the pie π
Oh yummm!!!
I love this yeast cake with plums. My mum kaes it very often as its her fav too. We normally put some sweet crumbs on top instead of the cream.
And I dont see how the fig version could go wrong. It looks amazing!
Oh, sweet crumbs, it didn't cross my mind π€¦ββ, but I know it is so tasty with that combination! Well, there are enough figs for more experiments and possible sweet crumbs hahaha π
Good afternoon @mipiano, that experiment looks delicious. π
Best regards.
Good evening @enraizar, yes, delicious and as we see edible as I survived haha π
Ya no queda casi nada π
Good evening @mipiano, objective achieved:
Hasta maΓ±ana (dΓa intenso)π΄
Descansa ππ΄
Gracias π
Oh my goodness!!! That looks so delicious, my mouth is watering. I knew you would have the recipe, yes! It looks super delicious!!The combination is perfect!
My niece said - pizza with plums and figs π
The dough part reminds her about pizza haha, but it is not salty
Well... nowadays there are so many unusual types of pizza that it could easily be sweet pizza...π€£
Sweet pizza - why not! ;)
That pizza is eaten on some planet, I know it is...π
I bet I'd appreciate both parts, maybe the plum side even is more appealing to me. A masterpiece, judging by the ingredients and photos! π
A very easy and simple recipe, from the grandparents' times... but that's why it is delicious π
I remember the cakes my mom used to make. When I look at your photos, I feel the smell, not just the taste.
You reached the parents!
Wonderful, I think it is a great mutual joy.
Enjoy this vacation to the fullest!
I suppose there are similar dishes that our grandmothers or mothers used to prepare, so the tastes and smells are the same! Thank you, we arrived more than a week ago, this year we stay for less time, so I try to be with my parents as much as I can, almost all the time.
Honestly, figs in a pie sound kinda fancy to me π but the whole vibe of baking with your fam and experimenting like that is so sweet π₯Ή
Yes, the was the most delicious part actually π
This is a simple and practical recipe, and the result looks delicious π. I'm not very good at cooking (I usually burn everything) but I'll give it a try.
I hope it will turn out just as delicious for me, and that those who try it will also survive π .
Greetings!
Many times the simplest make the things more delicious π
If you try, I hope it turns out tasty π
It is a good idea to make a small one just to try, it looks tasty, figs here where I live very little is available, in the Andes yes, greetings.
Yes, to try it was just a smaller part but as it turned out good, then a whole cake can be with figs next time
Tempting ! Such experiment is alwsys interesting when the outcome is as expectation. Looks delicious...
This experiment finished well, so interesting and delicious - the best combination :D
