2021 is not over yet. I risk sounding like a goober by stating that this has been a mild year in Texas as far as summer heat goes. At least here in the Rio Grande Valley, we have not had 100F and higher temperatures. Although we are still in the dog days of summer, it's safe to say that we won't be having those month-long streaks in which it's 100 degrees or higher day after day.
One of the benefits has been that our air conditioning doesn't have to work as hard. It also means that our electric bills haven't been as high as in past years. I think the Texas government is a bit sensitive about calling for power conservation after this past winter's blackouts.
Another change that we have experienced in South Texas, this year, is that we had an unusually wet season. Landscapers could not keep up with all the mowing that was needed. Hell, I couldn't keep up either.
Other than the covid stuff, this has been a good year, so far. It makes me wonder if this winter is going to be colder than last or just as mild as the summer.
Agreed. It's only been in the last few days it has begun to feel like summer arrived. Still not triple-digit heat (yet) but it's definitely warmer than it's been all year. I haven't decided if this mild summer is a reward for the February freeze or if there will be payment due this upcoming winter. #PlaceYourBets
