Reminds me of the sonic boom when the shuttle exploded. I was in the shower when it happened. I didn't hear it, because my head was under the shower at the time, but I sure felt it and almost lost my balance. My husband heard it.
I, too, thought it was an earthquake until we heard what had happened.
My sister called, because her son, who was a budding scientist (quite young at the time, but very interested in all things science) wanted her to find out if we heard it and how it sounded and just our experience (we lived in the Dallas, TX, area, they were living in Wisconsin).
That was truly a sad day.
I don't typically know much about astronaut crews. But, I do feel sad when we lose them.
I believe that many didn't know much about astronaut crews when that happened, but everyone knew about that crew after the accident. I know I didn't know anything about them, either. But the picture of the crew before they left was shown all over the place that everyone at least knew what they looked like.
