Oh My GODS!

Time flies, the question is am I having fun?
Well, to be honest since we got screwed I am not so sure about that fun stuff anymore.

Like I said last time:

For some reason, even ranks 7 & 8 are getting tough while I played for months at rank 9.

I keep dropping to rank 6 climbing back up to rank 8 touching 9 sometimes and back down again.

It just does not feel sustainable. Especially when you hit rank 6 and you get No GODS.

Not Motivated

I know that part of it is definitely me. I have had some big life changes coming my way lately causing me to be a bit distracted, and not always in a gaming mood at my dedicated hours.

But the main thing is that I am stuck.
That I see no progress.
And that I know it's my fault for not investing in my deck.

I mean I did invest to level up the quality of my cards, but I need to invest in better strategies. Because somehow everyone else got better and I am dying too often at Bot Rank.

I did that expensive September Upgrade

I ended August with the below;

Then I went on a shopping spree to get the deck at shadow quality minimum.

This is what it looked like afterward.

I spend 5 dollars in ETH and 85 GODS (approx 20 dollars) to upgrade my card quality. And I made back that $25 investment because everyone was upgrading their cards so I sold like a mofo and got two offerings of the GODS in one month.

So when I woke up when September ended I looked good.

I was looking forward to October:

October - Uptober - Notober

Uptober, that was the word of September but really the only thing that went up was the number of games I lost.

I probably sold two cards during the whole month and the price went down 25%.
I needed motivation, not demotivation.

I got some advice on how to improve my deception deck without spending a fortune.

Here’s a guild deck that only costs $9 and does well at Ranks 9-11:

But unmotivated me took a lot of time to check it out. One month to be exact.

I stubbornly kept believing in my strategy and my deck which got me nowhere new.

The new year is coming, I am not getting anywhere so I did it. Writing this post and seeing how terrible my stats are made me do it.

I created a new deck with which I actually plan to play till the end of the year.

Compared to the suggested deck I added some of my favorites from the deck I used for the last 18 months.

Cards like Dark Knives, Stoneskin Poison, and Merrick have been very helpful, and felt like they fit well.

The five high mana cards just felt like a must to have some power to finish a game at a later stage.

The original deck had none of those and I might need to reduce the number and replace some with the Frumentarii Instigator. But who do I take out?

Well, at least I have something to talk about next month.

Not Throwing In The Towel

I am not giving up.
Don't get me wrong.

It feels just like a bear market, a slump you do not get out of.

The only way to get out of it is to stay in it, and I guess that is what I will do.

I will just regroup, have my thoughts settle down a bit, and then look at new strategies. In April I will be playing for two years I think that might be the point where I make the decision.

Did I get back on my Godly feet, or do I let other people dance with these devils?

Up 43 GODS and spent some ETH which is really a score that is totally aligned with how I am feeling. Just check out my 100+ GODS up last month....

Anyway, I can be proud of September and I guess this is a well-deserved pushback. The thing is that this was me before building the new deck.

I put 30 GODS into that new deck and I am hoping on some Good Offerings next month to at least make those back because.....

I am only up 14 GODS this month. But I will stop whining and focus on getting familiar with my new best friend deck.

My plan for the coming month is clear, balance that deck in such a way that I can at least remain at rank 8 if that works. I will upgrade the new cards to at least reach shadow.
