INTRODUCTION

I really like card games and played MTG, Yu-Gi-Oh and a lot of Heartstone. I started playing Splinterlands back in September and then I began to explore the whole HIVE Ecosystem. I have read about Gods Unchained before in some Discords but had no time to get into all this new stuff at the same time.
I have seen all my money dumped into Hearthstone what is locked now in Cards in a Game that I don't play anymore. I can't trade or gift anything of them to someone else and this is why I am really convinced about Card Games on Blockchain.

Now with all the posts of the Gods on Chain Community Events, the game got back my attention and I started playing Gods Unchained at 23rd December late in night. I have chosen the same ingame name in GU that I already have in HIVE.

MY FIRST STEPS

With my experience from Hearthstone I was familiar with the gameplay. Some abilities are similar just with other namings, but Gods Unchained has a lot of additional ones too and I have to get into it.

My first surprise in the game was in round 6 where I used my bag of tricks for the additional mana to play my 7 Mana monster, but it didnt work. What's going on? Oh my god there are fractional mana steps after 5 Mana. Ok... lesson learned!

During the first 3 Games I also noticed the Favor and the Cards. I really like that Gamedesign, where you can chose the best option for the current situation, or think ahead and prepare for your opponents Favor Play or try to steal his best option before him.

I played with the standard war deck and saw that the ranked mode is ending within the next 12 hours. I had a great winstreak of 7 wins and ended with Rank "Rusted Iron".
During that I leveled up quite fast to lvl 7 and got a lot of free packs. So many packs and new cards to explore!

Noticed the Gauntlet of Gods, did a bit of research and dived deeper into the world of Gods Unchained.
Flux, Forge, Starmarket. During reading about the Forge I saw the requirements of Gods Token then I noticed about the weekly payouts with the Blessings of the Gods and noticed that I still had time to get my required game counts for the next payout.

THE NEXT THING

The next day I logged in and saw that a Weekend event is running. Well... after a short research I knew whats going on... With my Rusted Iron Rank I have to win at least 11 out of 25 games for the max. rewards of packs.

I created my own War deck with a better mana curve and my new cards, after 3 wins I thought I should try something else to not only focus on 1 deck and to get a bit further in my gauntlet of gods. Because I saw a great play of an opponent with a Nature deck I made a custom deck for Nature with the focus on Board control and higher health + healing ability.

The deck worked out great for me and I just focussed on getting to my 11 wins for the rewards. One time I lost really hard because my opponent gave his fortress with 8HP a buff of 3 Armor and I had no chance getting through this. I couldn't notice the spell name and there I couldn't find a history of the past plays on board or after the game. (If there is an option available please let me know in the comments!)

To not get destroyed this way again, I tried to change it, but my best solution with my cards was to include a "Onyx Nightblad" with "Destroy a creature with strength 1 or less" roar.

This would also help to kill some other monsters as well.

I kept playing, but never get countered with that combo again. Nevertheless I used my Onyx Nightblade in some situations. They were not game changing, but nice to have the removal.

FIRST DECKS and WINRATES

With my God of War I am still undefeated, because I stopped playing and switched to Nature. My First Nature Deck had 2 losses in a row and then I made some modifications and at the moment I am 10 Wins and 2 Loss.

This is my latest Nature Deck. I am focussed on monsters and try to play the mana curve and play aggressive. With my healing ability and higher HP monsters I try to get advantage on the board and keep my monsters alive.

WEEKEND RESULTS

I finished the Weekend event with 13 wins out of 17 so I did get to the max rewards with 2 Rare, 1 Epic and 1 DO Rare Card pack. I haven't received them yet, but I am curious what I will get and how my collection will grow.

After that short time I have also manged to get my required wins to qualify for the Blessing of the Gods reward.

MY NEXT STEPS

At the moment I am LVL 13 and Rank 6 ("Astral Meteorite") and I recognize that the Ladder is getting stronger. I did not try the other Gods because I didn't want to risk my win streak for the rewards with all experiments. Now that the Weekend is over I am going to test all the other decks and try to play the Gauntlet of Gods to get more Flux.

Playing all the other Gods will give me more overview over all the other Cards and I am sure I will find a new God / Deck what makes fun to play! With leveling up I will also get a better card pool to chose.

Within the next days I get my first Weekend reward Packs and as far I know the Divine Orders Cards are already NFT and don't require a forge. I should also be qualified to claim my first GOD tokens. Perhaps I get some hints what Cards are good to have and cheap enough for me to buy on the market.
