My best weekend ever: Mythic with Deception (18/25)

in Gods On Chain3 years ago

Hey guys!

After having a break for 2 weeks because of holidays I reached my best Weekend Ranked result ever (again). 17/25 and 17/25 were my last two WE-Ranked results. This were also my previous best results ever. But how was this possible?
I didn't had much time to play so I tried a few changes during the weekend with the intention to prepare for my next weekend...

...and my changes were "Deadly". :)

Deck Code: GU_1_2_CCmCCmGAeIAoIAoCDDCDDIClIClCCMCCMBFqBFqBEXBEXCEfGBCGBCIDACEwICtICyICqICqBGeBGDCERCERGBECAJ

My main strategy to copy my opponent cards and win time with a little bit sleep didn't changed but I added one variation with "deadly".

I removed 1x Rapture Dance, 1x Vault Vagabond, 1x Umber Arrow, 1x Inconspicuous Carriage and 1x Iron-tooth Goblin and added 2x Armor Lurker, 2x Uncanny Rogue and 1x Counterfeit.

I thought that 2x Rapture Dance were too much and I needed a new type of removal especially against multiple frontline and high buffed creatures who reached 10/10 and more. Vault Vagabond is still a good card but it has only 1 strengh. Even with deadly this is a useless creature against creatures with "Armor". This is why "Armor Lurker" got its comeback twice. It's also hidden, not that expencive but has 3 strengh. Its a perfect creature to buff with deadly and sacrifice later just to remove your opponents strongest creature. It's a different type of removal so 1 Umber Arrow leaved my deck instead.
And for "Inconspicuous Carriage" I had just that feeling that this card is not a must have and "Uncanny Rogue" is also a 4 Mana creature.

Counterfeit.png

!"Counterfeit" vs. "Iron-tooth Goblin"

This is not just a different type of relic removal. It gives you the opportunity to use your opponents relic by being a thief.
I thought that "Counterfeit" will be very helpful especially against War but I didn't used this card often. I'll keep this card in my deck for the next weekend so I can rate better how important this card can be in future.

Conclusion after a long break:
Maybe it was helpful that I had a bad start with 5/5 and maybe I was very lucky with my opponents and their gods (just 4 matches against War but 6 matches against magic, very unusual imo) so my goal for next weekend is to confirm this result. I think that I will not change my deck for my next weekend. Also on my next WE-Ranked I'll practice more with "Deadly". It worked already very well but maybe I can improve my timing to use "Deadly" more effective.
After reaching a "best result ever" 3 times in a row my prediction is that my next weekend won't be that good like my previous weekends...but you'll see it next week. :)

This are my results against the different gods:
Nature 6/1 (28%)
Magic 5/1 (24%)
Deception 2/2 (16%)
War 2/2 (16%)
Death 2/0 (8%)
Light 1/1 (8%)

Curious to see how Counterfeit does especially since it became a 3-cost instead of a 2-cost in the PTR. When played, it's a huge tempo swing, but I realized that it can be a dead card in your hand for many turns if no relics are played. (Although the same could be said for Iron-tooth Goblin, I guess there's always an option to just play it as a 2/2 sometimes)

Counterfeit is also in the beta already a 3-Mana. When your opponent will not drop a delic, it can be a very expensive card for drawing just one card. You're right a 2 Mana 2/2 is better priced...

But also I think just because Counterfeit exists all players against deception will be way more careful playing their relics. Maybe it's okay for most players, that their relic can be just removed but it is different when their opponent can steal their relic and use it.

I have to find out how my opponents will act in future with their relics but I have to play more matches to rate Counterfeit finally.

I like the idea of stealing the god power from your opponent. I don't think many player will expect this. How will you prepare your deck for this infrequent situation? You can't!

Is stealing of your opponents god power possible right now? Before Divine Order the god power "Thievery" copied the god power from your opponent. Now it's "Add a 1 Mana card from your opponents domain to your hand."

And there are a few cards, where you can change to a delved or a random common god power.

But I also liked "Thievery" before Divine Order. It was funny to use old "Leech Life" or "Choosen Visions" :)
