How to play Anubian Death at Mythic? Weekend Ranked [Deckguide] (9/11, 82% Winrate)

Hey guys!

I had a very bad start with Deception for current Weekend Ranked and with an average of 19 Turns this was also already a very long weekend...

Maximum was a match with 32! Turns. This match was too long for the server because after my opponent ended his turn the game was locked and nothing happened anymore. My opponent already had only 3 cards in his hand and nothing in his deck. My hand was full and I'm sure that I was able to answer to everything he could play. After 10-15 Minutes I got the "Defeat" with the message "server shut down - opponent got disconnected". After finishing my Weekend I can say this match was the needed win for the Legendary MJ-pack for 15 wins. My overall result was 14/25. Very disappointing....

I decided to play Anubians to finish my Weekend as fast as possible. It ended with 9/11. Once I lost against a "Spellslinging Shoolteacher"-Combo Deck. The other loss was against an "Aggro Nature"-Deck. In the other 9 matches I played against every god with different decktypes.

Good is that Anubians are very cheap so this deck is also very beginner friendly.

DECK:

The 2x "Pyramid Warden" are almost at 200$ but you can replace them with any other card with the tag "Anubian". "PW" clearly isn't a keycard for this deck!
Right now without the PW you can play this deck for about 40-50$.

Here are a few alternatives for PW

Removals:

Blightbomb, Curse of Greed and Dust to Dust are your early removals. Blackblood Blast is your "emergency exit" when you have the feeling that you can lose the match soon.

Your cards for every turn:

In almost every turn you'll play or get one of these cards. Try to fill your board (and your void) with these two creatures. "Pharaoh's Heirloom" will give you the annoying "Wretched Vanguard" and as a bonus for 2 extra mana also a "Vile Reaver". "Wretched Vanguard" steals 1 health from your opponents god. This is one of your main damage to your opponent. "Vile Reaver" is a light removal and also important later.

Keycards:

"Priestess of Takhat" and "Raving Necromancer" will deal the main damage to your opponent! If your opponent will kill them - this is no problem. With "Land of the Dead" you can summon up to 6 1 Mana creatures from your void. If you have the choice, take "Priestess of Takhat" first, then "Raving Necromancer" and "Vile Reaver", then "Wrethed Vanguard". Usually you'll have at least 6 cards in your void from the 4 I mentioned. Beacause of "Blitz" you can sacrifice "Vile Reaver" by attacking enemy creatures. When the "Vile Reaver" dies "Priestess of Takhat" and "Raving Necromancer" will damage your opponents god.

If your opponent isn't defeated you can try to win the match the turn after by playing another "Land of the Dead"

Why so many "Pharaoh's Heirloom"?

You have a lot of cards to generate more "Pharaoh's Heirloom". When 2 Land of the Dead aren't enough you still can play "The Quorum of Pharaohs Past". This is a 7 Mana 7/7 creature. It's "Roar" will damage random enemies (also the god) at least 4x with 2 damage. Just get as much "Pharaoh's Heirloom" as possible. Every card in your hand and your void will count for the damage "The Quorum of Pharaohs Past" will deal.

The Rest:

The focus here is to draw cards to increase the odds to get the needed cards. The contra for "Catacomb Curator" is it's "Roar". You have to remove one card from your hand. Try to obliterate "Blackblood Blast" if you're sure that you have the board control. You can also just buy the cheapest card from the "Sanctum" and obliterate it. "Fleshbind" gives you another option to heal your god a little bit plus you also get a card draw. "Vrock" ususaly gives you 2x card draw fast. Your opponent will try to remove it fast because of its strength. Also "Vrock" will also benefit your opponent with 2 Card Draws. "Reclaim" will let you draw 2 cards and the option to generate a "Pharaoh's Heirloom" (you read already why this is needed)

I don't know how long we can play with this deck because of possible nerfs. For this weekend you can play with this deck but I don't know if the devs will "kill" the Anubians in future...

Have fun as long as you can!

Greetings

Does warden work well here, I haven't see anyone play it in Anubians.

To be honest I'm only using PW because I'm owning them. And PW is also Anubian... At least you'll get the same pro's and con's like in every game. Maybe you're able to protect Priestess of Takhat and/or Raving Necromancer for one or two turns from enemy attacks.

But like I mentioned already, it's not a keycard for this deck. :)

What Deception deck were you playing that was going for so long??

It was almost the deck I played the Weekend before:

I just replaced both Pyramid Warden with 2 Umber Arrow. Also I had a lot of opponents who played also control. Sometimes we played our first creature at 6 Mana...

Wow I'm surprised that only went 5/14!

:) So, waiting -- nerf or not nerf... I took risk and bought The Quorum of Pharaohs Past hoping it will help me to get a better reward this WR :)

We just got at least one more Weekend. :)
