Hey guys!

We see some shiny days for Deception. πŸ™‚

This Sleep Deception Deck by [NVS] DeVoTeD is just leading the ladder with 25/25 right now: LINK

It's even more impressive that this Deck is at 38/1 in total. But the price at 1.4 ETH is also very impressive.

But I want to talk about my Deck. With this Deck I reached with 20/25 my best WE result ever. My previous "Best-Result-Ever" with 18/25 looks now just like a medicore result. I don't know if I can reach a 20 again but with Mortal Jugdement in the GU-pipeline the meta will be shuffled again so everybody must be creative and change their decks again.

This is the Deck I played my last 25 Matches: (I'm a litte bit shocked that the price of this Deck is also already at 1.2 ETH. So not really low budget lol)

The price of my deck exploded because of the 2nd Demogorgon I was finally able to buy.

One of the most important changes was also to include 2x "A Toast to Peace".

Mainly it's still my main goal to reach 7 Mana. At 7 Mana I can play Demogorgon or Witherfingers for the first time.

Also I never told to you in my last posts because this never changes: Godpower. You can see this as a little reminder πŸ˜‰

I always play Orfeo's Distraction. It gives you multiple options for the needed playstyle.

  • Protecting your own creatures with Hidden from target damage.
  • Preparing for a use of Rapture Dance for example by removing Ward/Protected or reduce the health the turn before.
  • Overplaying Frontline of your opponent.

This are the single removals I'm using.

  • "Stoneskin Poison" at best for "Frontlines".
  • "Sleep Dart" at best for creatures with health 3 or less. Also possible to prepare your Rapture Dance.
  • "Hunting Trap" at best for creatures with 4/4 and better.

This are your Card Generators. The creatures will give you copies from your opponents deck/hand. It is also possible to copy the finisher from your opponent. "Screams in the Night" will give you at best from your deck the needed "Demogorgon" and/or "Witherfingers".

early.png

This guys are your early game creatures. With them you try to win as much time as possible. The combo "PW/Satyr Hypnotist" is controversal and I also tried different cards instead like "Obsidian Dagger", "Reconnaissance" or "Cutthroat Insight"... But I stayed at this combo πŸ™‚
"Satyr Hypnotist" is in the background to let one enemy creature sleep for one turn. "PW" will take all the damage. "Armor Lurker" is the guy who attacks the enemy creatures. "Lady Marcella" with the two deadly "Rogue Skulker" will get the whole attention from your opponent. They don't want to loose a buffed creature because of a deadly 1/1er. With a good timing you can use the Afterlife to fill the board of your opponent just to kill all enemies with "Rapture Dance".

"Guild Enforcer" is another "Frontline" to protect yourself and maybe still a "Satyr Hypnotist".

"A Toast To Peace" and "Rapture Dance" are your cards to clear the board. "A Toast To Peace" was very helpful against "Zealous March" for example.

finisher.png

This cards are your finishers. "Demogorgon" and "Witherfingers" gives you more time with their "sleep-Roar". Also you'll damage some enemy creatures. With their Roar you can also prepare a board clear the turn after: "Rapture Dance" to kill the enemies, "A Toast to Peace" to get "Demo" and "Witherfingers" back. (You can use their Roar again πŸ™‚) "Demo" is also important because it's the only card with leech possible for Deception. In some matches the extra life points indeed were needed.

This were my opponents, this time more detailed by deck types:

OpponentResultthoughts
Control Magic5/0this were long fights but Magic have big issues against Hidden Creatures -> also with a hidden "Witherfingers"
Aggro Nature4/0When you are able to play 1 or 2 "Rapture Dance" and maybe also "Demo" or "Witherfingers" the win was yours. Your opponent just don't have more weapons to continue playing
Midrange Light2/1The loss was very unlucky because after I played Demogorgon my opponent bought a "Card Draw"-Card from the sanctum, played it and obviously drew his only "Radiant Dawn" he had in his deck...but all three games were tough with a 50/50 chance to win
Aggro Light2/0...they were easier to win because the trading between the creatures were easier. I won both matches after Turn 11
Frenzied Aggro War2/0War in general is a tough opponent for deception especially the Aggro Decks. Frenzied Aggro is easier to control because you can focus to kill the right creatures. But to be honest you need also a little bit luck to win against War
Aggro War0/2These Aggro Vikings are too fast and too strong to survive. It was good that I had only 4 War opponents πŸ™ƒ
Zombie Death1/0This was a very easy win. My opponent wasn't able to play his Necroscepter...
Amazon Nature1/0I had perfect card drawing and was able to kill everything from my opponent. "Arkmonian Onslaught" was my biggest fear but with no creatures on board my opponent wasn't able to finish me
Midrange Nature1/0s. Aggro Nature
Order Deception1/0We neutralized each other but I won because a Hidden "Witherfingers" was not to defend for my opponent.
Card Draw Magic1/0...2nd longest game with 19 Turns. We also neutralized each other and a hidden "Witherfingers" was not to defend for my opponent πŸ˜‡
Control Nature0/1longest game with 24 Turns. My opponent had perfect answers to "Demogorgon" and "Witherfingers" and I died because I had no cards left. After I checked his deck I realized that he still had "Hevner, Grim Shuck" in his hand...
Aggro Deception0/1very unlucky for me because my Opponent played "Rune of Strengh", "Dark Knives" AND "Assasin's Aim" on one creature. I didn't expected that...

Once again I had a lot of fun playing the last Weekend-Ranked event. πŸ™‚

What are you're thoughts about the last event and what are your thought about this deck?

I hope I'll read a few comments here 🀑

Greetings

Congratulations on the second Demo and the great result!

My thought about this deck is that simple: it is perfect. πŸ˜ƒ You need nothing to add or remove, this is the final destination πŸ™‚

Thank you! :)

I think that you're right that there isn't much more to improve but when the meta changes (IMO the direction is more Aggro) I have to find a way to protect me in early game more.

Maybe one more week will be possible with this deck.

How do you think your deck stands up to Devoted's sleep-heavy deck?

This is very hard to say. Maybe his legendaries would make the difference for him.

I think you have a chance if you play as much Aggro as possible to put your opponent under pressure. Under pressure he maybe will make mistakes.
As Deception you are able to hide one of your own creatures to protect them from target sleep. You will not use the Godpower early on enemies. Until Turn 7 he haves only 3 creatures possible to play.

Maybe you are also lucky enough to copy one of his big creatures for late game.
