Yo, everyone! How are you doing?
I'm writing this article as my participation at jungleboy1's Nature Card Giveaway - Amazons Edition. First things first, I need to admit that I'm not a Nature player, but the event encouraged me to give it a try!
Diving into Nature/Amazons
As an inexperienced Nature player, I had to make a quick research before getting my hands dirty on deckbuilding.
A. Looking into the best
It's impossible talk about Nature without mention MightyUncle. For those that doesn't know him, he became famous for get consistent results piloting Nature decks. Earlier this week, he reached the #1 on players ranking. Even more, luckily for us, he did it testing some Amazons lists! π
Unfortunately, at the same time I'm writing this article he is playing his Weekend Ranked event and not doing that great (currently 5/11, 3/6 using the Amazon list). But it still the best place to start our build.
I noticed some changes on his lists since he started to play Amazons:
Decklist 1 [5W 0L] β Decklist 2 [7W 0L]
- -2 Hunt Warden
- +2 Riverjumper Captain
Decklist 2 [7W 0L] β Decklist 3 (current list) [3W 3L - WR]
- -1 Steadfast Scout
- +1 Primal Guidance
B. The F2P reality
As a F2P player, I knew in advance that i couldn't afford MightyUncle's list. So I looked for other F2P players that was recently playing Amazons. It was then when I found a player called Gluthor that got a 13/25 result on current weekend ranked at Mythic rank, wich is quite a result playing a F2P and non-tier 1 list.
He also changed his list during the event:
Decklist 1 [5W 2L] β Decklist 2 [8W 10L]
- -1 Nightleaf Hunter
- +1 Barksworn Trailmarker
Putting it all together
After gathering all those information, it's time to go shopping and start forging our F2P list (wich I kindly called SlightyUncle's Amazon Deck π )!
A. Shopping Cart
There are some core cheap cards that I can afford using my pending $GODS rewards or selling some unused cards that I have. So, I will buy the following cards:
- 2x Nimble Pixie
- 2x Primal Guidance
- 2x Agrodor Protector
Although, as life isn't a bed of roses, there are a plenty of cards that I can't afford π° or didn't collect yet (core set cards):
B. That's All There Is
So, my job was to find some replacement for the 10 cards that are missing. To accomplish this, I went over Gluthor's lists and other #amazonunchained giveaway lists. See bellow the list that make it and my thoughts about the chosen cards:
Deck Code
GU_1_5_CExBELBELBEuBEuCBfCBfCDGCDGCDOCDOCFsCGACAvCAvCDVCDVCDYCFuCGBCGBCAyCDHCFyBCRBCRCCPCAECAECCC
Pack Stalk (+1)
Got this from kstreet's article. I'm really curious to see the card in action
Nightleaf Hunter (+2)
It has the status that we need to rush our opponents. There are plenty of 1-drops that make possible get the +1 buff on turn 1.
Amazon Spearsoul (+2)
Our confuseless Black Jaguar! Why not?
Canopy Sniper (+1)
I have the playset, it's an Amazon, the deck lacks removals. I'm not completely sold about that, it looks like two is too much.
Gersemi, Freyja's Spear (+1)
I just wanna try Gersemi and see how it goes, probably will not make the cut.
Firewine (+1)
Our plan is going wide. I expect that we can make good trades without giving up of rush our oponnents. It's our weakier Arkmonian Onslaught. The initial ideia was to try Trial of the Hydra, but the cost of it ($16) doesn't make possible the test for now.
Nightleaf Prowler (+1)
I heard that this deck face a lack of ways of coming back after your opponent controlled the board. As @theking24 said it best at his article:
Now the Hidden on this creature can help you get back in the game again in case you were losing, or can help you finish the game off; since hidden creatures are more probable to survive to next turn, you can use Arkmonian Onslaught in the next turn and have 3 6/4 creatures with twin strike in only 2 turns which is very good if all creatures survived.
Conclusion
After gather all cards, I will play some games to test the list and comeback to share the results. It looks really fun to play a tribal deck! I'm excited to start playing and hoping that the deck find its place on meta with the upcoming set Mortal Judgement.
By the way, before we finish, I'd like to list some Amazon additions that Mortal Judgement will bring:
Finally, let me know on comments what are your toughts about the new cards? There are other non-tribal cards that will serve to Amazons too?
Thank you for your attention and see you in the next article!
Looking forward to see the results on WR! I hope you're able to get an Underbrush Boar someday, it's such an amazing card for any Nature deck.
I'm excited for Druid of The Cycle and its ability to obliterate cards in any void. It may be a good option against BWD besides the value generation from Echo and the 1/1 sprout.
Ma man! Thank you for cheering on me, I do hope be able to get an Underbrush Boar someday too! π
Glad you re encouraged to try new decks this brings new taste to the game for you!
I have a lot of fun doing it! π Thanks for passing by!
It will be interesting to see how the new amazons will do, Barksworn Hunter looks pretty good.
Indeed! But I think Warrior of Paradise will be a no-brainer addition to every list, don't you think?
Not sure, I think it has to live to trigger and 3hp dies kinda easy.
I think it will trigger anyway, even if it doesn't survive.. not sure. Even though, there are just few times that you will not have a weaker target to attack. As blitz creatures allow you to take back the board control, I think it will fit like a glove on the deck.. Let's see!
Thank you for the submission. Loved reading it and I like that you added the new set at the end.
Thank you for the opportunity! Had a lot of fun preparing the deck and the post!! π
