Budget Deception Pilots Guide! Mythic Caliber deck for $22!

in Gods On Chain3 years ago

New pilots guide is out. On a Budget? Want a Mythic Caliber deck for $22? You've come to the right place!

Deck Code: GU_1_2_CCmCCmCCQCCQIAoIAoICnICnCDDCDDIClIClCEPCEPCBhCBhCEDCEDICqICqIAkIAkCCRCCRCEXCEXICHICHCAJCAJ

Welcome to my Pilots Guide article! Lets delve into the deck shall we?
Card by card explanations:

God power: Orfeo's Distraction (all matchups)

Dark Knives - Burst potential (we are an aggro deck) This combined with Orfeo's distraction on minions with lots of health is a win condition. Your primary targets (for this list) are going to be Switch Duelist, Jinxblade Duelist, Vault Vagabond, Inconspicuous Carriage, Skeleton Heavy, Guild Enforcer (situational dependent of course) Generally speaking I dont like this in my opening hand (exception is Shadow of Lethenon favorites where you already have the shadow cat in hand)

Makeshift Shiv - Great value from a relic 1 mana for 5 damage (potentially) 15 favor great for board control of tiny minions. I love to have (EXACTLY) 1 in my opening hand (drawing 2 of these is not good).

Patient Pickpocket - Fun value card 1 mana for a 1/3 order 3 is slow-ish but copying a card from opponents' hand is value and your profit is the 1/3 body on the board. Copying a card in your opponent's hand gives you information on what to potentially play around as well. I'd consider this a high priority keep in the opening hand.

Piercing Bolt- Niche removal spell great against armor (ex-Nature pangolin stuff) Also solid vs Guild Enforcer. 1 mana to deal 2 is solid use in situations where you are not facing armor as well. I don't like keeping this in my opening hand unless you know you're up against lots of armor.

Armor Lurker - Best 2 drop deception has IMO at least for minions. Effectively better than a 2 mana 3/3 with hidden honestly this should get nerfed soon but while this is live take advantage of it. Generally speaking, usually I'm able to get 2 for 1 value for 2 mana in most situations. This is a top priority keep in the opening hand (over anything else in this deck).

Assassins Aim- Similar in style and usage to Dark Knives- See the write up for that card. One thing of note the minion you play this on gets perma-hidden (not hidden for one turn) so you can be patient (I think some forget this) I do not like seeing this in my opening hand.

Jinxblade Duelist- Good stats minion that can potentially snowball. Good synergy with the god power Orfeo's Distraction. It's not the worst minion to have in your opening hand I'd consider this medium-quality keep/mulligan in the mulligan phase if it's the worst card in the hand I would toss it but I rank it higher than our lower-quality keeps.

Ludia's Dedicant- Fun card generating value. The free cards generated from this card are cards from your opponents deck as opposed to the other classes ex: war version (completely random 75% of the time trash relic) Nature version (completely random nature card hello Dense Fog) You should have a higher chance at getting quality cards unless your opponents deck is bad. I consider this a medium-quality keep in the opening hand (see Jinxblade description).

Surprise Delivery- Fun burst card and inconvenience for opponent 3 mana to effectively deal 6 damage (this will synergize with Rapture dance quite well) Generally not a card you want to play early in the game so its a card you should seek to mulligan in your opening hand.

Vault Vagabond- High value potential card nothing frustrates and opponent more than tossing an assassins aim and going face with this annoying minion. You get to copy the top card of your opponents deck which allows you to plan ahead and anticipate some. If your opponent is good, they shouldn't be caught by surprise by anything generated from this. I would consider this a medium-tier mulligan phase card (see Jinx Duelist)

Inconspicuous Carriage- The poor mans Pyramid Warden the afterlife is an asset instead of a liability so that is nice. Great synergy with Dark Knives or Assassins Aim if your opponent allows that to happen. Good players can play around the afterlife, but bad players make game losing mistakes into this all the time. I would consider this a Medium-Low keep in the mulligan phase (would not keep over the medium tier but better than the low tier).

Rapture Dance- A surprise board wipe. Uncharacteristic for a hidden rush deck to have this as a tool but there is good synergy with surprise delivery. Classic deception card. Not something you want in your opening hand during the mulligan phase

Skeleton Heavy- Good stats for cost minion. Fun early game target for assassins aim. High priority keep in the opening hand.

Guild Enforcer- Strong card in just about any deck but within this build works nicely with Assassins Aim and Dark Knives also keep in mind you can use Orfeo's distraction on guild enforcer to protect it without having guild enforcer take damage. I consider this a medium-low mulligan keep similar to Inconspicuous Carriage.

Best of luck on the battlefield!

Great deck for such a low cost! You mentioned Pyramid Wardens as an upgrade for Carriage. Any other upgrade suggestions for people to build into? Also, have any game vids going second? 😀

Step one: Go first every time. I actually looked back in my VOD and all 3 games I played were going first. Shadow of Lethenons are "classics" I am unsure about Rapture dance still.

besides shadow of lethenon any more recommendations?

My latest version using non-budget cards deck code: GU_1_2_BARBDuBDuBEXBEXBGeGBIGCEGCECAJCAJCCMCCMCCQCCmCCmCDDCDDCEPCEPIAlIAlIAmIAoIAoIClIClICqICqIDA

There are a lot of different ways you can go.

What would you swap for the cats? I like keeping Rapture in.

Here is my new brew with no budget. I'm trying to walk a fine line between speed and value generation. (Ex cards like the hollow can generate late game potential but slow you down). Its a weird deck that had a few fun games. I'm a bit worried it cant beat war consistently enough to be viable at a win rate I would consider acceptable.
