Weekend Ranked - What to Play!

Weekend Ranked is here! Not sure what to play in the event this week? Two weeks ago I came in 5th place using this control War deck. Although this happened before the crazy Guild Enforcer buff, the deck is still extremely viable with a few minor tweaks.

The Guild Enforcer Era

Now that Guild Enforcer exists as a 3/4 with 2 Armor, and is nearly impossible to kill, we must slot in 2 Guild Enforcers ourselves. It is important to always to be prepared for our opponent playing a Guild Enforcer and have a plan to deal with them.

This deck has a handful of ways to deal with Guild Enforcers.

• Hector: with Blitz, Protected, Twin Strike, and Leech, can take out two Guild Enforcers in one fell swoop, without even dying and while healing for 8! While this is a dream scenario, it is still possible to kill one that drops later in the game.
• Hyrtacus: with a Roar of deal X damage where X = Hyrtacus's Strength, we need to make sure we draw Hyrtacus by turn 2 in order for it to have 6 Strength by 5 Mana to deal with an on-curve Guild Enforcer. This means keeping Hyrtacus in your mulligan is actually a fairly smart strategy, unless you're playing against an extremely aggressive deck.
• Out of It's Misery: this pulls a random card in your deck into your hand and gives +3/+3! Just the kind of Strength we need to kill a Guild Enforcer
• Carnage Sweep: This card, along with a relic equipped, will completely clear the board.
• Guild Enforcer: nothing like an old fashioned staring contest.

You can sub out the Strength In Numbers for an Avatar of War for a solid finisher, and other cards to sub in may be Nokkvi Pillagers for their twin strike + leech, which gives Hector those keywords as well. Archangel Bruiser can do 3 damage to a Guild Enforcer, so they can be swapped in for the Orcish Elites. Not quite enough damage to kill a Guild Enforcer on its own but nearly gets the job done.
