A feature of Gods Unchained that often confuses new players is the Star Store.
"Should I be buying things from the Star Store?"
"Can I sell those things?"
"Are there other reasons to HODL my Stars??"
Earning Stars
First of all, you can earn Stars by winning games in Gods Unchained. Your first 20 Wins per day will be counted and after that, you may earn no more until it resets the following day (at the same time as the Gauntlet countdown timer).
Each win, however, is not equal, and you earn more for your first wins than for your last wins. Also, each time you earn some, the "vials of Stars" have a 10% chance to upgrade to the next tier.
Here is a chart I made of each win and how many Stars you'll get, plus an average column to account for upgrading vials.
Effectively the first 4 wins of the day are key and can earn you an average of 1417 Stars. Considering 20 wins on average nets you an extra 1200 Stars, it's clear where the money lies. Get those 4 wins a day!!
Star Store
Ok so you've earned some Stars. Great! Now what do you do with them? The Star Store has a number of options each day with a mix of Core cards and Welcome Set cards.
The Core cards are plain locked cards, they are not NFTS yet and you need to Forge them in order to sell them.
The Welcome Set cards are Shiny versions of the plain Welcome Set cards that everyone gets automatically. They will be NFTs BUT THIS IS NOT AUTOMATED THIS YET SO YOU WILL NOT GET AN NFT for probably months and months. You can still use the card in your decks, just can't sell it!
Why would you want shines? The more shines in your deck, the more $GODS tokens you'll be able to earn in the future!
What Else Will Stars Be Used For?
We don't know yet exactly what Stars could be used for in the future, though in the past they announced that Stars would be used for Sealed Mode entry, at the cost of 5000 Stars per entry. This was a year ago, way before $GODS existed, and with Sealed Mode on the backburner for a while, there's no telling if this will remain the case.
So buy Core cards that you desperately need, if you want, but keep in mind that there may be future uses for Stars. As for me, I only use my Stars to buy up nice shiny Welcome Set cards so I can bling out my decks! 😎

This is a great summary! Sometimes there are really good common and rare cards on the store that can help a lot to new players, especially if they like Nature.

Sealed mode sounds fantastic, as a former MTG Arena player draft was my favorite format by far. I'm really excited for the future of Gods Unchained!

The shadow deals are usually for 2 weeks I believe. I think it's to make sure everyone has the time to grind up some stars and purchase them even if they had spent everything previously.

Hope they bring some more use of some kind to stars but it makes sense not to make them so crucial since they are kinda easy and fast to earn.
Agreed! Sealed mode would've given the opportunity to earn packs and legendary cards and trinkets! We need more from our stars!

tldr: Pick up core cards you are missing and any welcome meteorite/shadow cards you play since the star store is currently the only way to obtain shiny versions of welcome cards.

Great information. I had to read the section on the "welcome set cards" a couple times to understand what you are saying. My understanding is that you are able to purchase the card but it won't be "minted" until some unknown time in the future? So its unlocked for use inside the gods unchained system (playable) but not available in your marketplace inventory. It is extra confusing because it will show up in your "game inventory".
Yeah it's weird because Immutable is lagging on minting these for some reason. So basically they would normally have been minted, but currently they aren't being minted, but they do still show up in your inventory. And we have no idea when they will mint them, so it could be tomorrow or it could be 1 year from now, they never give dates :(
