What's fusing?
Utilizing "The Forge" in-game to consume:
- copies of the same core card, obtained from core packs via leveling up, or weekend rewards or the star shop
- Flux, obtained from the daily "Gauntlet of the Gods" in which you get rewarded Flux for winning with a specific god up to 3 times, encouraging the use of the various decks
- $GODS token, obtained from the current "Blessing of the $GODS" event, buying/trading with other players or exchanges like coinbase, FTX, etc. for money
into an upgraded quality version of that card. Right now fusing only works from "Plain" quality to "Meteorite" quality. Higher quality fusing will be available in the future.
Why would you want to have higher quality cards?
The GU team is currently working on a play to earn system to allow us players to earn $GODS on a daily basis.
With additional points being earned from the quality of the cards used, thus decks with complete Meteorite cards earn more, higher qualities like "Shadow" even more, etc.
Why would you want to fuse now?
To sell cards and invest in cards you think are more important for now, for example to fill out your deck with specific cards you haven't been able to get for better results and rewards at the current weekend events.
NOTE: this is subject to change [...]
This could go either way, cheaper or more expensive or no change at all, but if you think the costs might go up it would be a good idea to fuse now. Speculation basically, but still worth mentioning.
Why not fusing for now might be beneficial?
To have more $GODS for Staking later on when it launches together with Governance. (I repeat, not yet available)
Staking bascially rewards users for holding $GODS. (There's more relating to Governance which is not the main topic right now)
The payout in $GODS comes from the so called "$GODS Staking Rewards Pool". Which gets funded from $GODS used up during fusing, a % of purchases in the GU store and a % of trading fees.
I fused some cards when they opened the Forge again but you have some arguments which I considered aswell. Waiting seems the better option for now.

I'm not fusing much right now, got some eth+gods on sushiswap earning me some coins daily and once staking becomes available I'll most likely check the returns compared to my LP in sushi before I considering unstaking there and going full gods in IMX. I think it will feel better to fuse once you're earning from staking than doing it now from gods you earn from the event.

Yeah, i'm holding my $GODS too here, i think when blessing event finish the card prices will rise too because of the price of $GODS
