Hey everybody, it’s Percy here, and today I am going to be sharing an account of my journey through our travels. If you have seen my (2nd race, second place) post, you will understand this better. After my race, we had to leave Corfu, so we packed up and got on a ferry. Our ferry departed and landed in Igoumenitsa we had a lot of luggage as you can see
(@knowhow92) picked us up from there and drove us to Ioannina. We had a nice dinner with him on the first night. The next day, we walked around the lake
, and then we went on another ferry. This time, we went to an island in the middle of the lake. We walked around the island
I also found a metal bar and i hung upside down
and we met a nice dog. On the way back, (@knowhow92) invited us to go skateboarding at the skate park. We arrived, and he let me use his skateboard because I didn’t have my own. It was very fun, and he even taught me how to go down three of the ramps. The first ramp he taught me to go down was the smaller version of this really big ramp
The second ramp @knowhow92 taught me to go down or should I say go off
And now last but not least I went down the really big ramp
He also tried to teach me how to do an Ollie, but he said it took him a month to learn how to do one. After that, we said bye and on the way back home we saw a couple of shops they all had slingshots I asked my mom if she could get me one but she said that there would be some in Athens. But sadly there wasn’t any there.
We woke up really early, packed, and went to the bus station. We got on our bus, and our journey to Athens began. If you want to know more about our time in Athens, check out (@buttcoins) rainy Acropolis. Moving on, we arrived in Morocco 🇲🇦, Rabat, but we had to immediately get into a car. The driver was very nice while we were in the car we spotted some camels. He also took us to a restaurant because we were very hungry It was delicious, and we soon got back in the car. We later arrived at our apartment, which was very cozy. There was even a skate park right next to our house, but unfortunately, we didn’t have a skateboard.
The next day, we went down to the beach. There were a bunch of tide pools, and we saw a lot of clams in them.
Me and Amari wanted to take them home to cook, but we didn’t do that today. Instead, we went to the Medina. I was telling my mom how much I wanted a skateboard when we passed a store. I can’t remember why we went in, but while we were there, I spotted two skateboards. One was bigger than the other, and we got the smaller one. I was very excited to try it out, but when we got home, it became apparent that it was very bad. I was quite upset because I paid for that with my allowance.
But Amari really wanted to go ice skating ⛸️, so we went. While we were ice skating, we met this girl named Sofia, and she told me she did surfing 🏄♀️. I asked my mom if I could join surfing lessons with her, and my mom said I could. We went surfing. I was okay, but not great—I didn’t manage to stand up, but that’s okay. It was very cold 🥶, so I had to get out halfway through the lesson, and I had a wetsuit on. Afterward, we went to the surf shop. While we were there, I saw a skateboard 🛹. They had three different sizes: one was big, one was small, and one was medium. I asked my mom if I could get the medium-sized one, and she said we first needed to check the price. We checked the price, and she said, “Okay, fine ✅.”
I was so happy! When we went home, I checked out the skateboard, and I loved it so much. The next day, I went down to the skate park and tried it out. I think the skate park was more of a bike park, but it was fine.
We would’ve stayed at the house longer, but the WiFi wasn’t good, and me and Amari do online school. So sadly, we had to move, but it’s okay because we moved into a very cool place. The lady who ran the place said that on the first night, she always makes food for her guests. She made the most amazing food: tajine, the national dish of Morocco 🇲🇦. It was so delicious! We got a chicken and vegetable tajin, and it filled us up for the night. The next few days, we were just settling in. It was a very nice place, and I was itching to use my skateboard 🛹, so we went to Skatepark Corniche Rabat. It was honestly not that good, but I made do with what I had. I tried to do a full U-turn around the skate park I managed to
and I dropped in to the skate park
over all it was pretty fun. I later told my mom I wanted to go to a different skate park, and she said we could some other day.
I’m going to make a part 2 for this since I already have 958 words.
That picture is gnarly ahahah
I'm like a goalkeeper, ready to jump hahaha
Quite an adventure! I know precisely zero about skateboards, if I'm honest, but visually at least the second one you got looks way cooler anyway, so maybe it all worked out alright in the end, even if the first one was a bust, eh? :)
It's true, you never get bored boarding XD (or inline skating in my case).
If you don't already have one maybe get one of those backpacks that has a section to strap your skateboard to :) I find it kind of odd that the places you bought the skateboards from didn't have a place in the store to try them out (which would have saved your pocket money on the dud!) but it could just be that there are two skate shops that I would go to and trust, one of them has a small half pipe type ramp in the shop you can test on and the other one had (past tense as it's in the city and I haven't been there for a while due to no longer skating :< so I'm not sure if the shop is still there or moved) a very wide corridor up the back.
Your trip sounds like a lot of fun!
Stoked to shred with you Percy! Have fun riding your new board friend and keep skating!
