Week 1 progress

To start my new journey on my first skateboard I have been practicing monster walks when I can. My fakie pivots/reverts are not the problem here it seems like after reviewing this footage and finding more proper trick tips... you aren't supposed to even lift the wheels! Need more practice just letting these wheels slide and getting them to do the work. Maybe this is where I am finding some limits of the 88a dragons that I am riding. Stepping back on my comet cruiser (that has 75a 69mm Powell Snakes) makes me realize how varying your grip really can be from such a small component.

My wife came out with me with our 2 little dogs as we walked/I skated along the beach path. This is a great trail that runs along the harbour in our area, any day that is not raining will have this place overflowing with bikes/rollerbladers and walkers. I'm always the only skateboarder I see and will definitely throw up shakas if I see you on 4 wheels.

Here's our puppy Leela running alongside me, she is still very much scared of the new skateboard... just like me! Definitely better if I am on my other cruiser with the soft wheels since it makes less noise. Would love to be able to just run with her, but she always looks and runs for mama haha 🐶

Really stoked to keep learning stuff this year and get involved more in the community around me again. It feels like I took an extended break for about 4 years after only skating a handful of times since 2021. Already skated more this month than I did in that last chunk of time. Just need to keep filming my progress, I think I need a tripod and a proper angle for some better footie.

Keep your eyes peeled for more footage! I just hosted 2 pump track events and media is starting to roll in, and we have another event on the coming Sunday! Lots of stoke, good vibes and skaters are turning up, the recent session on May 25th had 20 participants! We were dodging rain, hail, scooter kids, toddlers on training wheels and all sorts of wild obstacles.
