My Skateboarding Journey
My name is Isaac Musasizi, also known as Bloodtoffe. I’m a street skateboarder and a pioneer of the new generation of skateboarding in Uganda. I hail from Kampala, and my passion for skateboarding began in 2014 when I joined a crew of 12 skaters from different suburbs across the country.
My journey started during the era of skate carnivals in Kampala. One day, I came across a crew of skaters in the city, and their energy was contagious. After striking up a conversation, they warmly welcomed me into their world. They shared details about their skating schedule and introduced me to Kitintale, the first-ever skate park in Uganda and East Africa.
At the time, I didn’t have my own skateboard, but fate smiled on me. A DJ friend who worked in South Africa saw my enthusiasm and offered to help. In exchange for assisting him with his daily tasks—carrying his equipment to various work locations—he gifted me my first skateboard.
With that board, I was unstoppable. In 2015, I achieved a major milestone: my first ollie. From that point on, skateboarding became more than just a sport for me—it became a way of life.
Our generation of skaters laid the foundation for the vibrant skateboarding community that thrives in Uganda today. We paved the way for the new wave of skaters, and I’m proud to see how far we’ve come.
Thank you, skateboarding, for giving me purpose and a sense of belonging. And a big shout-out to SkateHive—it’s an honor to be part of this incredible community.
