Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenges - Another week, Another Challenge - I've missed a couple being busy but time to get back into them!

First things first, feel free to just go to their website directly but if Splinterlands interests you I'd be very happy if you joined up with my referral link:

It's a dragons week so it's a good opportunity to use some Dragons I'd been working on to have some nice utility in my arsenal.

As you may have seen in previous posts I have a Quix the Devious, Djinn Chwala and the Desert Dragon - all cards featured in my lineup today!

Quix Chwala DD.png

Quix is nice with his biggest benefit being the slowing of the opposition. Obviously not great in a reverse speed match but in any other match it is always good to beat the enemy to the punch. In addiition a reduction in ranged damage is nice (though not as useful as say a reduction in magic damage would be!).

Djinn Chwala is a mainstay in many dragon lineups with his strong tanking and the thorns ability. A very strong card if you face melee but can absorb a fair amount of damage in any match.

Desert Dragon is a strong attacker and I managed to work on it a bit since I discovered how much fun the Trample ability can be.

As a bonus I have these cards at Level 2 so they have some decent power.

The Battle

The rules for this battle were:

  • 19 mana cap - not huge but big enough to allow some big cards

  • Super Sneak - all melee have the sneak ability

  • Life or Dragon only

With the Life or Dragon splinters being the only ones possible it was clearly going to be a battle where I either fought Life cards, Dragon Cards or a mix of both. I decided this was a good chance to utilise Quix as there was a good chance I'd be facing some ranged attack!

And so my lineup was as follows:

Quix (4) - For access to the Dragon splinter and to reduce ranged attacks

Djinn Chwala (8) - for thorns and a solid three melee attack (as I have it at level 2);

Desert Dragon (7) - a solid secondary tank but with five melee attack and pierce AND in a super sneak battle could do some big damage from the back;

This team used all 19 mana with a tank that has solid life, armor and thorns and one strong attacker. With the solid life and armor on both cards the fact I only had two cards shouldn't be an issue. Range attacks are mitigated so there is a risk from Magic, however I'm banking on being able to kill anything fast enough to mitigate that issue too.

And my opponent went with Life and General Sloan - a best case scenario for me.

General Sloan (4) - Extra ranged attack;

Shieldbearer (8) - Life's premier Taunt (only?) tank;

Gargoya Scrapper (1) - a one mana filler but can be handy in this ruleset as it can attack due to Super Sneak;

Venari Crystalsmith (4) - for the heal of course and a good attacker with Sloan;

Herbalist (2) - low cost ranged attack;

Also using all 19 of the mana cap this team has a solid tank and a heal but I've rendered the summoner useless (Sloan) as Quick is a clear counter to Sloan!

So will my two monster deck beat his four monster deck - let's see.

Turn One - Due to the speed differential my team goes first quickly taking out all of the Shieldbearers armor and doing some damage to him. His team returns fire mostly at Chwala and his Shieldbearer though getting a heal takes some more damage from Thorns. The Scrapper takes a swipe at the Desert Dragon but just does some armor damage. The turn ends with both line-ups intact with Shieldbearer on eight life and Chwala still having two armor and nine life.

Turn Two - Again with the speed advantage my team goes first quickly taking out the Shieldbearer. There is some return fire but the scrapper misses his attack and the turn ends with his team at a severe disadvantage with the Scrapper as tank on two life vs Chwala with still on nine life. It's clear to see that this battle is all over it's just a matter of two rounds.

Turns three and four - Again going first the Desert Dragon kills the herbalist (hmm no trample with sneak?) and Chwala takes out the Scrapper. This leaves the Crystalsmith in front and harmless and quickly dying on turn four to end the match.

And it's as easy as that - with the ranged bonus from Sloan countered, the speed of my team and their high tankability my opposition stood no chance.
