For decades, the cyclical nature of trends in everyday life has been a witness to the evolving landscape of fashion—a generic expression of these trends that plays a significant role in society.

The "baddie" trend style emerged during my later teenage years and heavily influenced my personal style. This trend was characterised by outfits perceived as edgy and bold, often featuring #y2k clothing styles, form-fitting dresses, and extravagant makeup looks with bold lashes, eyebrows, and lip colors. The signature "baby hair swoop" hairstyle completed the look.

As I transitioned into adulthood, I found myself conforming to this trend, filling my closet with bodycon outfits that accentuated my curves. My makeup became more extravagant, despite being arguably too mature for my age. Long nails and frequent hairstyle changes were also part of the era—the epitome of the "baddie" era.

Reflecting on this time, I smile at my efforts to keep up with the trend, which remains a prominent style even today.

The cycle of fashion trends varies for each individual based on their timeline and stage of life. While some discover a new sense of personal style through trends, others may feel pressured to conform, potentially impacting their personal development and sense of identity. Without proper guidance, this could lead to later crises, such as identity struggles.

While the cycle of fashion trends has its advantages and disadvantages, it undeniably leaves a lasting impact on individuals, shaping their preferences and memories.

Though my style has transitioned from the "baddie" era to what it is today, I'm grateful for the memories and experiences that era provided me in my younger days.
