El casco histórico de Caracas actualmente conserva estructuras de gran valor histórico que han sido reconstruidas o remodeladas para perdurar en el tiempo.
La visita a esta parte de la ciudad derivó de las ganas de conocer la Casa- Museo José Gregorio Hernández, lugar dedicado a la memoria del beato, la cual es una restauración de la casa donde habitó el Dr. José Gregorio Hernández los últimos años de su vida.

The visit to this part of the city derived from the desire to know the House-Museum José Gregorio Hernández, a place dedicated to the memory of the Blessed, which is a restoration of the house where Dr. José Gregorio Hernández lived the last years of his life.
Visitar esta casa museo es conectarse con el ambiente de una casa antigua de finales del siglo XIX, con un arquitectura particular de la época con grandes ventanales, allí se destacan los espacios del consultorio y dormitorio del Beato, donde tienen en exposición algunas de sus pertenencias muy bien conservadas, las paredes de alguna de las habitaciones fueron decoradas con pinturas que muestran a los familiares del beato así como retratos de su niñez y adultez. Esta Casa-Museo también cuenta con una sala de exposiciones donde se muestra la vida de José Gregorio Hernández y su proceso de beatificación y cuenta con un área donde pudimos observar la parte de la excavación realizada para ubicar los cimientos de la casa y una escultura del Beato.

A pocos metros de la Casa- Museo se encuentra la esquina de Amadores, lugar donde fallece el Dr. José Gregorio producto de un arrollamiento con uno de los pocos vehículos motorizados existentes en la ciudad. La esquina de Amadores es un lugar de peregrinación para los devotos del Beato José Gregorio Hernández, allí se pueden ven las velas y flores que dejan como reflejo de su devoción.
A few meters from the House-Museum is the corner of Amadores, where Dr. José Gregorio Hernández died after being run over by one of the few motorized vehicles in the city. Una vez culminada la visita a la Casa-Museo y alrededores, me dispuse a visitar junto con mi esposo y mi tía el Panteón Nacional y al Mausoleo Simón Bolívar. El Panteón Nacional es un monumento donde se conservan los restos de personajes destacados de la historia de Venezuela, inicialmente allí reposaban los restos de Simón Bolívar, que posteriormente en el año 2013 fueron trasladados al Mausoleo de Bolívar (edificio anexo al Panteón Nacional) y allí reposan actualmente.
Lastimosamente el día de nuestra visita estaban cerrados al público, pero eso no nos impidió contemplar la belleza de estos monumentos y disfrutar de sus espacios, que estan muy bien conservados. Alrededor del Panteón pudimos contactar un guía que de forma muy amena nos ayudó a recordar parte de la historia de Venezuela y nos explicó el simbolismo tanto del Panteón como del Mausoleo, así como las modificaciones que sufrieron las calles para su construcción y la historia de los sitios a su alrededor, lo que compenso con creces el hecho que ese día estuviesen cerrados al público.
Once the visit to the House-Museum and surroundings was over, I went with my husband and my aunt to visit the National Pantheon and the Simón Bolívar Mausoleum. The National Pantheon is a monument where the remains of prominent figures in the history of Venezuela are preserved, initially there rested the remains of Simon Bolivar, which later in 2013 were transferred to the Mausoleum of Bolivar (annex building to the National Pantheon) and there they rest today.
Unfortunately the day of our visit they were closed to the public, but that did not prevent us from contemplating the beauty of these monuments and enjoy their spaces, which are very well preserved. Around the Pantheon we were able to contact a guide who in a very pleasant way helped us to remember the history of Venezuela and explained the symbolism of both the Pantheon and the Mausoleum, as well as the modifications that the streets underwent for its construction and the history of the sites around it, which more than made up for the fact that they were closed to the public that day.
De allí caminamos hasta la Plaza Bolívar disfrutando de las calles de la ciudad y de sus edificios, tanto históricos como modernos, sin duda un día no es suficiente para visitar el casco histórico. Espero volver pronto para visitar y disfrutar con mayor detalle las bellezas del casco histórico de mi ciudad.
From there we walked to the Plaza Bolivar enjoying the streets of the city and its buildings, both historic and modern, certainly one day is not enough to visit the historic center . I hope to return soon to visit and enjoy in greater detail the beauties of the historic center of my city.

Que interesante visita! me gustaría conocer la casa del Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, yo tampoco pude entrar al Panteón ni al Mausoleo, en la ocasión que fui. Sin embargo sólo por fuera resultan imponentes ambos sitios.
