Will poor countries be able to keep up with the demand for ventilators as the COVID-19 epidemic continues to spread?
MIT's new ventilator idea could be exactly what the doctor ordered, especially in poor countries will have no chance of meeting their need for the devices as the pandemic grows.
The design is based on a class project completed by MIT students a decade ago, but now a team at the university has been formed to bring the project to fruition.
The ventilator is based on a kind of pouch called an Ambu-bag, which hospitals would already have a large supply of. These bags are manually operated and are used by doctors temporarily in place of a ventilator.
The idea is simple: the setup works by mechanically squeezing the bag continuously, instead of a person.
MIT warns potential DIYers that the any makeshift device still needs to meet FDA regulations, even though COVID interventions are no longer subject to liability in the US.
Still, I believe that this idea has the potential to save countless lives in countries that can't afford ventilators.
Looks like cwow is helping you out here! I would recommend using PeakD instead of hive.blog. You get a lot more important information and the user interface is a lot smoother and refined. Anyone who has been on Hive long enough will use PeakD instead of hive.blog. They both pull information from the Hive blockchain so it's just how much you want to use a particular interface.
Looking forward to your introduceyourself post!
Agreed. Thanks for your help! I will "introducemyself" soon.
Congratulations @telecaster! You have completed the following achievement on the Hive blockchain and have been rewarded with new badge(s) :
You can view your badges on your board And compare to others on the Ranking

Bad idea to repost the same post again :)
Thanks, Cwow. Reposted because I didn't know I had to post in the community if I had the tag. I couldn't figure out how to delete the first one.
No problem my dude.
You cant delete it, but you can edit it and remove all the content or declind payout then people don't really care :p
Use @peakd to post within the community :D
If you use @esteem > @ecency (ecency is the old esteem, not released yet), you then need to have the "Hive-16402(whatever the numbers the community have, it can also be seen on @peakd)
Last thing. Make a post about yourself and post it with the first tag being #introduceyourself, a lot of people look there for newcomers.
Also, just ask me if you have any questions when ever your RC allows you to do so :D
If I post straight on Hive.blog in the community, will it be seen on Peakd? Thanks for all the help.
Yes, it will.
It will also be seen on esteem/ecency :D
Thanks, I just installed Peakd and now I can see why people would be annoyed if you posted the same thing twice!
Peakd is amazing. You can also use hiveonboard.com to learn things.
Get keychain that will make your life a lot easier when logging in and such.
But make sure to make a post and use #introsuceyourself tag, that will give you some attention! :D
Receiving a notification of your decision to follow my account @telecaster, just stopping by briefly to check into your activity. Looks like you have received input already on what I would've also said.
Lots of other info, but don't want to "bury" you. It takes time to "learn the ropes" in this "virtual world." So ... With all of that, welcome to the Hive blockchain! You are in for a fascinating "journey" along a path of discovery of what is possible with today's (accelerating into tomorrow) technology.
If I can help you in any way, please don't hesitate to ask! I am a "part-timer," so there will no always be an instant response, but you will receive one, on any message for which I receive a notification.
All the best to you and yours, for a better tomorrow!
P.S. Best way for someone to receive a "notification" of someone else's mention of your account is to write it just as I have in my first sentence - the "@" symbol, followed by the account name.
@roleerob, great advice. Thanks, I really appreciate it!
