Undaunted and facing the immensity and beauty of a huge lake, in a small fishing village on the outskirts of a city, sits Julian; a lively and cheerful boy who looked at the horizon from the dock. He was impatient and discouraged, because he had given his Spanish-Literature teacher several works to compete in different events and workshops at his school, but he had not been successful in any of the ones he sent.
His father, Juan Silvio, seeing him from afar, was worried that he would give up doing what he had done with so much effort and dedication for many years and that, in addition, he was passionate about. He did not have much knowledge of specialized institutions to be able to teach his son, meanwhile, to enter the great world of letters and stories; the legends and conspiracies of goblins and manufacturers of feelings that he had been inspired by time and again, but he did have a lesson to share with him that he would never forget.
At that moment he had a fishing rod, which he quickly handed him and took him to another section of the lake. The mission of that boy, totally troubled and dejected, was to catch a fish, so quickly he set out to do so. Before his big blue eyes like the immense sky in front of him, a gigantic group of fish gathered in the place, but none of them took the bait.
He waited a while, very calm, quiet, thinking about catching at least one of them and it was then that after more than two long hours, when the boy was almost ready to give up the idea that his father had encouraged him to do, he felt that his rod was getting heavier. A fish had been fooled by the hook and had bitten him, so he began to try to lift it and a little later, after his tenacious perseverance, he achieved his goal. With great euphoria he ran to show his father.
With great satisfaction, his father congratulated him, with smiles and joyful songs they celebrated after those hours of waiting. After a few minutes, he asked the boy to sit next to him and then, that man of little education, began to distill a wisdom, which he had not learned precisely in school, but in every place he had visited and with every person he had met.
-Life is like when we fish, - he told him very proudly, knowing that he was contributing to the construction of his son's life, with a wide smile that drew his whole broad face.
-In life, everything is like that, neither so bad nor so good, we simply launch life projects and dreams into a great sea of possibilities; sometimes they tend to become a beautiful reality, other times, they remain only at the bottom of the sea, but it cannot be a reason for discouragement. The key to success is to be perseverant, triumph is not in thinking and planning it, but in patiently crossing that sea so that the opportunity of life does not escape. Do not give up, when the moment comes, you cannot let it escape.
The little boy had paid very close attention and understood what his father told him, and decided never to give up again; he would be patient and capable of waiting the necessary time in order to reach his goal. He would never let himself be frustrated or obsessed with a negative idea, because his father had explained it to him that way.
Thus, many years passed and now Julian was a young man full of motivations and his dreams were other than to continue his constant fishing; He had drunk from the sap of life and from experienced people like his father and from every achievement, and had become a great writer of novels and stories for children, because he had conspired with his own history: his sky had become full sun.
A message for you, it is free and it costs nothing: Always look inside yourself, be able to solve the “obstacles” that life puts right in front of us, go ahead, keep your mind and body well balanced, take stock of the ideas that you really want to embrace and conquer, the future is just a step away and you can achieve it, but it will really cost a lot, there will be joys and tears in that coming and going, in that contrast of pain and encounter of emotions, you will find harmony, happiness, but also sorrows, but you will achieve it even if it is necessary for your life to be lit with fire and memories that you always carry in your soul.
