Love can be felt, but it is invisible like the wind. We cannot control it like the rest of the emotions, because it follows its desires. Sometimes we long for a magical object that will change everything in a snap; a desire that comes from selfishness, yet life itself makes us realize that everything is perfect even when we do not see it with eyes wide open.

When I was young and fearless, I wanted to marry the moon. I watched her pass by from my window in my cabin every bluish twilight, while the sky was tinged with her silver dust and her beautiful voice summoned the nightingales. The water primroses and lilies awoke to hear her sweet song, swayed back and forth gently trying to follow the beat of her melody, and the owls hooted in harmonious sounds that merged with the wind.

Contemplating from my window, I looked like a fool enraptured by his first love, as I caught a close glimpse of those silver hairs and gray eyes. The moon's untainted smile flashed as imposing as the light of a lighthouse, and her beautiful red silk dress rippled as she danced through the air with the nightingales.

I was happy when I saw her and sad when she left. I knew that my feelings would not be enough to conquer a powerful immortal, so I always gave up, swallowing all my emotions and sinking into the world of dreams.

One morning, motivated by an idea that moved my heart, I decided to do something to get his attention. I took my cello and began to compose a melody. I demanded more than I should have and, when the sounds went out of tune, I let myself be dragged down by a perverse frustration. There were mishaps, anger, and insecurities, but finally, I was able to finish my piece of music.

I waited for a special night when the moon was full. I positioned myself next to the lilies and primroses, waiting for the beautiful maiden of space to manifest herself. As I felt her presence, I prepared myself. I was very anxious and began to play my melody. She twirled gracefully as she sang. I was able to detail more precisely how beautiful her shiny porcelain skin was.

At first, I smiled, but it was quickly wiped off my face as I realized she was ignoring me. I finished playing and was not happy, I was hoping to get the Moon's attention.

Did I do something wrong? Could it be that she didn't like my music? I mused with a broken heart.

“You play beautifully,” I heard with a start. I looked to the side and noticed on the grass a beautiful young woman smiling, her brown hair covered with shiny dust. I knew immediately that she was not a human being by her white eyes lit up like two sparkles and the transparent snowy aura surrounding her entire body.

“Oh... Thank you...,” I gasped trying to get over that scare. “Who are you?”

“My name is Elullien; I'm a star, I belong to the Moon's little team,” she said, introducing herself in a tender and soft voice.

“ Nice to meet you, my name is Faust, and I'm a musician,” I answered now calmer.

“Oh, that's great, you composed that beautiful melody?” she asked and her eyes sparkled even more.

“Yes, I made it for the Moon, but I see she didn't like it,” I replied ducking my head.

“Don't worry, it's not for you. When the Moon descends to Earth, she only does it to bring happiness to her sons and daughters. It's not that she doesn't like your song, she... she's just focused on her own.”

Those words made me catch my breath and revive my hope.

“I'd like to show her how beautiful my melody is and that she was my inspiration,” I said clenching my fist, completely determined.

“Well, maybe I can help you with that,” Elullien said smiling, placing her fingers under her chin. “I'm always with the Moon, if you teach me how to play your tune, I'll introduce it to her and tell her it's yours.”

“Would you do that?” I manifested with excitement.

“Of course! The Moon must know about this magnificent composition.” She expressed with sincerity.

After that moment, every night, Elullien would descend on my hut to teach her my song. She seemed to have a born gift for music, she was very happy with every guess she mastered. I had so much fun with her, as I had never had with anyone. I enjoyed her sweetness and intelligence, and what I liked most, was her particular way of telling stories.

She was very kind and warm. Her eyes melted me; especially when she stared at me. On several occasions, I wanted to woo her and tell her how beautiful she was, but it didn't seem appropriate considering why we were together.

“Truth be told, I used to be a shooting star,” she would relate almost mumbling. “It was fun, I traveled to multiple places in the universe and met new people, but I had no direction or stability. So I met the Moon and she made me her companion. Since then, I have the peace of mind I always longed for.” She concluded her story with a smile and I could feel her fingertips brush against my hand generating sparks in my chest.

“That makes me glad, Elullien,” I replied happy for her. “I used to have that peace, but then I met the Moon and my whole world changed.”

I perceived Elullien's look as a pang of sorrow and that made me uncomfortable. It didn't feel right to say it, but I was trying to hide my true feelings for her.

“How can you be in love with someone you don't know?” She asked me with a strange tone in her voice.

“I don't know, I just feel it and that's it,” was all I answered. I felt really silly saying it.

“You know, as a star, I can also grant wishes,” she assured as a faint smile crept across her face.

“And... are you going to grant me a wish?”

“Of course I will, although my magic can't make the moon or any other being fall in love with you, it can make love come into your life at any moment. You only have to wish for it, Faust.”

At that moment, Elullien took my hand in a very tender way. Her splendorous diamond-like eyes rested on mine in an eternal instant. She was so loving and beautiful that I did not know how to react, and prompted by her words, I whispered my longing.

“I wish for love to come into my life.”

A ripple of radiance erupted from Elullien's body. She smiled even more as if in some kind of ecstasy. I felt a warm breeze run through my whole body, it was as if I had been caressed by hundreds of silk cloths. When everything was back to normal, we were in each other's arms, Elullien was no longer glowing and her eyes sparkling like stars had taken on a human appearance.

“What happened to you?” I asked worriedly. She smiled shyly at me with her head lowered, then looked at me again.

“Faust, I'm in love with you,” she confessed. I was shocked with my eyes wide open to the limit. “The power of your desire turned me human and I accepted it because I wanted to be by your side. I'm sorry you found out this way, I know you love the Moon, however, I wanted you to know my feelings for you.”

She lowered her gaze again, expecting to be struck by a disappointing answer, but then I held her and held her delicate chin tenderly.

“Elullien, when I first met you, I thought my only goal was to marry the Moon, for I thought I was in love, but these last few weeks with you have been wonderful and made me realize how wrong I was. The wish I made worked, for you are the love of my life.”

We sealed our feelings with our first kiss and were consecrated by the moon. Since then, I no longer admire the wonders of twilight for every day I have one by my side.

Whaooo.. This is just so beautiful.
I can't believe I finished it and I wanted more.
I knew the beginning was looking more like a poem, but I just flow with it since I am a poet too. I had the intention of telling you to submit it to the blockchain poetry community, but then the story of the young man and the star came in.

The poem was amazing. Can I call it a poem? the one for the moon. It was amazing reading this. Thanks for blessing me with this piece

There wasn't this story as a poem, but now that you mention it, it would have looked great.

Your comment is a great pleasure. Thank you for your words and for reading my post.

Happy Sunday!

You’re welcome and happy Sunday to you too 🫶🏽

Love can be felt but remains invisible like the wind. It eludes control, following its desires. Sometimes, we wish for a magical object to change everything instantly. It reminds us that love is not always about grand gestures or unattainable desires but often about the connections we form in unexpected places.

Very beautiful and representative your comment, it is the essence of the whole story.

Thank you for reading me and leaving these beautiful words.

It's a nice feeling to know that I'm not the only one in love with the moon. Falling in love with a star when the moon doesn't meet your expectations must not be too bad either.
