> Haggerty frowned. His eyebrows were thick, white, and looked like caterpillars rippling on his forehead.

“What to tell. Most of the month I’m a bear. Roam the valley over doing what bears do. When the moon comes near to full I work my way back to here, must be some kind of instinct.”
“You don’t know it’s happening.”
“I’m a bear. I know where my favorite itching tree is, and where the salmon pass closest to a shallow part of the river.”

The detective noticed that the investigation had begun to stagnate, and that whenever he followed a lead, he suddenly found himself going in circles around suspicions that he had not wanted to take into account, since he had not found enough elements to support them. However, his instinct had never failed him, and this time it would not be like that either. Everything pointed in one direction, and he decided that the time had come. It was time to confront Alfonso.

When Reality Bites

Jean waited for a few minutes after Jack left, using the time to adjust her appearance and calm her nerves. She took small sips of her wine, savoring the taste but making sure not to finish it before he returned. But as more time passed, she grew anxious.
‘It’s almost an hour gone,’ she thought, checking her phone.
Finally, she walked over to the bar, her steps slow and hesitant as she scanned the restaurant, searching for Jack.

Cupcake's ordeal

And that was when he saw me.
“Hey Cupcake, what are you doing?” I cringed at what he called me as I shout-whispered back to him.
“I know you have a habit of sneaking out. You either take me with you tonight or I report this to your mom.”
He sighed and after contemplating for a while, said “ Do you know how to climb a tree?”
“Yes.”
“Now, climb up”. Although I struggled a bit, I climbed and got to where he was.

The trip to the pharmacy was not.
"I don't know why you do this, you can walk to the pharmacy yourself, now I have to carry you, waste fuel, burn energy and money, because you're too nonchalant to care about your health. You act like a big idiot, a big tall idiot. See your hair, I've told you how many times to comb or cut it, are you an agbero, looking like all those touts on the streets. Why must you make me shout, what did I do to deserve this, I'm just so unfortunate."
I listened to her rant, smiling in my head at the last line, surely I was the unfortunate one.
I claim to not be religious but every day, I managed to mutter the same prayer;

Like a Powerful Star, She Was

However, no human alive knew the location of the star. Five years ago, the Amatekays started to attack the human realm. Everyone believed they had come for the lost star and they were going to destroy what was left of the humans.
“I am going to see Oneke. She must have something to say.” Leti tapped Nahyo’s shoulder and dashed away. She came to a tent dimly illuminated from the inside. The air around it oozed burning sage. She stopped in her tracks when she recognized the voices emanating from the tent. It was strange that her mother was visiting the diviner of the sanctuary.
