"Is earth lady sure she wants this?" Maru said in her deep raspy voice. "Perhaps some secrets should remain so."

"I understand your concern, Maru. But I've come so far in my work, learned so much from your people, I couldn't leave without being as thorough as I possibly can. It is a part of me, and the world I inhabit- a world of facts, analysis, and open knowledge."

The old woman grunted as if dissatisfied with the answer but gently brought the canoe ashore.

Amy took off her bracelet and handed it to Maru.

"Is this even legal?" I tried asking in a scary low tone but my voice became surprisingly loud. My heart pounded in my chest.

"You say wetin? (What did you say?)" The leader asked, walking closer towards me.

Ngọzi tried holding me back and signalled to me that I should keep quiet but I shook her hands off and asked again "Is this roadblock legal? Who authorised it? Because if you're to block a federal road then the orders should come from the government. Mind you, I'm a citizen like you and I know my right" I asked in a little bit of a shaky voice. I couldn't tell what was pushing me but I knew I was becoming angry.

“Yes! Nursing students, you're up.”

I do not know about the rest of my course mates but I know that my heart was racing. All of a sudden, the comfortable turtleneck polo that I wore felt very uncomfortable. My palms were all sweaty as I approached the front of the class.

“Good morning ma’am.” I greeted.

“Yes, what is your name?”

“I’m Wongi ma’am and I would be representing group four.”

The Lost Kite

Of 'course, I know how to because I spent my younger years climbing the trees around our house. I was really an adventurous kid way back then, but when I started the fourth grade, I stopped doing it. Maybe it's a puberty thingy because I somehow feel embarrassed when I'm seen climbing a tree.

Anyway, I brush off that idea as I focus more on climbing the tree. I swing branch by branch to reach the top left of the tree. As I ascend, the branches seem frailer than the previous ones I've stepped on. I was about to take another step when a strong gust of wind blew. The whole tree shook, and to prevent myself from falling, I hugged its trunk. When the wind subsided, I continued to climb further until I reached the branch where the kite was stuck.

A Walk into Tomorrow

“We do not have the time to ponder that. I summoned the gods. The only way out is for the Kingdom to appease the gods with morning dew.” My father retorted. “That's the only way order will be restored.

I glanced back at Voya. “Morning dew? How do we get it if it only comes in the mornings? What if tomorrow never comes?” The sun isn't rising.”

“Then we'll go to tomorrow,” Voya said. “I know how. You can do it. You have the power of an Idigo in you. Close your eyes. Dive deep and find the way. Time is infinite and exists in the same plane. We only see our reality.”

"But still, I don't understand what your ultimate plan is," GX said with intrigue in its little virtual eyes.

"You'll have to follow me to find out," said the young half-human, half-code girl before setting off to where they were all going.

Damy feared failure, but she was unwilling not to try. After all, it was either disappear at any moment or get her family back for good.

She had already realized, also thanks to the transfiguration, that The Unit was not a group of omnipresent cybernetic entities, but a millionaire who tricked programmers into creating a virtual world where he could manage people as he pleased.
