This is a wonderful story. You pull us in from the beginning with the wounded goblin/leprechaun. We are very angry with the Connor boys. The scene you describe is wonderful. In the end, we all forgive the boys and the brothers weep for their fallen relative. The gesture of the leprechaun/goblin is very effective.
