RE: What have I done.

Hi @eugenia7499. Thank you for joining us in The Ink Well. We have some introductory information for you, as well as some tips on your story.

You can find our community rules at the top of The Ink Well home page. We ask everyone who posts in The Ink Well to read and comment on at least two other writers' work in the community for every story published.

And be sure to visit the resources available in our catalog of fiction writing tips.

Your story has some nice suspense and mystery to it. Here are a few tips:

  1. Be sure to let the reader know what the story is about early on. Otherwise, if you keep them guessing, they might get distracted and stop reading. Here's an article you might find helpful: Don't Write This Kind of Mystery.
  2. When you end a story with it being just a dream, sometimes readers feel as though they were tricked into believing it was real. This is a very common method of ending a story for beginning writers, so we have an article about this as well: Don't Use the "It Was Just a Dream" Escape Hatch.

Hopefully you find these tips helpful. Again, welcome! Good luck and keep writing!
