Creative Nonfiction in The Ink Well Prompt #115
Source
Welcome to The Ink Well's weekly creative nonfiction prompt!
In this post, we'll provide the prompt for the coming week.
Before You Write Your Creative Nonfiction Post...
We ask that you read our Creative Nonfiction Tips post to learn about the creative nonfiction genre and review our guidelines.
Important notes:
- Creative nonfiction stories are based on your real-life experiences.
- We are looking for real short stories! Not advice columns, reports on crime or corruption in your city, observations on nature, recipes, religion, politics, or any other nonfiction content. Just real-life short stories.
- Ideal story length is between 750 and 1500 words, but your story must be at least 350 words, at a minimum to be curated.
- Please focus on quality content. Read and edit for errors! Use a grammar checker before you post your story.
- We expect everyone who posts in The Ink Well to read and comment on at least two other stories for each one published.
- Do not post stories featuring physical abuse, graphic violence, erotica or NSFW content.

Highlighting @zerah, with the story:
Sneaker Rush
I felt her voice crawl up my ears to my brain, bringing me back to life.
Curator's comment :
zerah writes a highly entertaining creative nonfiction story spiced with suspense about her escapades on Black Friday as she made a dash to a store for some shoes for her cousin. The cousin told her under no uncertain terms that she *had* to go get those shoes. They were a great price and selling out fast. This story is a great read. The things she has to do to get ahold of that last pair of sneakers are the stuff of high-speed chase movies!

Highlighting @popurri, with the story:
Our first game
Basketball is a team game and that's how our teacher made us understand it and, even though the players knew each other since we were kids, the camaraderie between all of us was fundamental and this was strengthened as we spent hours practicing and playing with each other.
Curator's comment :
popurri offers a glimpse of herself as a young girl discovering the joys of basketball. The story is well paced and popurri deftly creates enough drama and magic to drag the reader right onto the basketball court. She also manages to infuse her telling with a whimsical nostalgia that hits home and leaves the reader grinning. Skilled writing.

Highlighting @nancybriti1, with the story:
The face of faith
And as if faith were something we could carry up and down, like a key chain or a little chain, my family, my sister and I put our faith in our backpacks and put it on. And after that, as if words had power and God had finally heard us, all things began to happen in our favor: my sister, the next day, no longer bled and they were able to do the biopsy and after the result of the biopsy, which turned out to be a large myoma, she was operated on.
Curator's comment :
nancybriti1 writes a very nice CNF story for the faith prompt about a time when her sister was hospitalized with uncontrolled bleeding. An older doctor who was very concerned about the outcome told Nancy and her sister to pray. So they did. Quite a bit of time when by, with many other doctors attending, and she finally received the treatment that would get her well. When she left, she asked about the older doctor, and no one knew who he was or had seen him, so they believe they experienced a miracle.
