"Tell me a story.. Tell me a story." My little boy Thomas chanted jumping up and down in his Pajamas on his bed.
"Okay settle down Tommy, let mother find a book for you." My husband, bless his soul, managed to hold him down while I found a book to read to him.

I came back from the bookshelf successful in my findings, sporting a book that I was sure would fill up his hungry mind. I covered the title and they knew it was their cue for the reading introductions.
My husband started it,
" Oh brave story teller, tell me a tale. One that may make me hearty and hale."

"But what kind of tale would you like to hear?"
I asked amidst giggles because of the way in which he always makes his voice.

"What of the tale which you hold there?" My son replied, knowing this little side act by heart.

"Oh but this tale is too dear to tell. A tale so close to my heart, I couldn't tell it well."

My husband took over,"All your tales are so well told, stories from your mouth our mind hath behold."

"Indeed so you say, but I know not where to start."

"Well start from the title and from there we depart."

"Well that makes it easier, for this story is called **The Hungry Cat**."

In the bustling city of Sekiville, there was a black cat named Mike. Now Mike was living with his owner Misses Pearl, who made sure he lacked nothing.
Mike was always fed with the best food, the best milk, the best water, the best scratching post and even the best sand shipped from the beach of Miami for his litter box. Yep, Mike was using imported sand on his tush, just to show he was a royal kitty.
With all these obviously extravagant belongings, Mike was still hungry for more. He wanted more food, more milk, more posts, etc. And Misses Pearl was happy to oblige, for as she always claimed "Mike is the king of this Jungle."

One day, Misses Pearl had a visitor. The neighbor, Miss Green, came for a cup of afternoon tea. Mike watched her for some time on his cat bed shipped in from Vietnam, he got bored and eventually gathered enough morale and strength to get up and move to the backyard.
As he stood up, Miss Green dropped her cup and exclaimed "Ooh, what a fat kitty you've got."
"Meoww?" Mike asked, for he knows that obscenely rude gesture wasn't for him. His cat food from Germany was guaranteed 100% fat free. He said some rather colorful words back to her in cat language, addressing mostly how she had the galls to comment on the hostess pet size.
Miss Pearl ignored the comment and said "He's the perfect size for a cat his age." Although she said it in a rather unsure voice.
Mike decided, he has had enough of such rude and trout behavior. Pained and shamed, he cat-walked out of the sitting room to the backyard.

At the backyard he saw two cats, a nice looking molly and a Tomcat laying on the fence. Now being the handsome rascal and woman charmer that he was 5 years ago, he approached the molly.
"Hey beautiful", he meowed. "You're looking rather ravishing today, wanna get a-" she jumped off the fence and sauntered out of the compound.
The Tomcat laughed out loud at the rather depressing attempt.
"Sorry boyoo, my sister is kind of a drama at." He said, apologetically.
"She's pretty." Mike managed to whisper out, as it was the first time he had ever been rejected and as the saying goes cat guy his tongue. It made him fall in love even more.
"Yeah well, you aren't the only one who thinks that mate." Tomcat said stretching.
"I want to get to know her more." Mike said, turning to look at the Tomcat.
"You would have to pick a number mate." He said and leaped off the fence.
"How can I get her? Any tips?" Mike asked desperately.
"Gee, I don't know. Listen, you seem like a really nice cat, but you aren't really up there with cathletes like Panther and the rest. Maybe just try to lose a few belly jiggles." He said and began walking away.
"How can I lose fat?" Mike asked after him.
"Try fasting."

Mike walked into the house, thinking back on his conversation with that cat.
Fasting? That means he would have to stay without food. Wouldn't he die? Another thought crossed upon his consciousness. He shaked his head, he had to do this. To get his beloved, he would stay hungry.
He went to the parlour to tell Misses Pearl of his new resolution, and asked for her encouragement on his journey.
The conversation went a bit of something like this;

Mike: Meow meow
Miss Pearl: I'm so sorry my love, your food would be out in a bit.
Mike: Meowwww

Miss Pearl dropped his food bowl and poured his favorite dish of fish and rice with the recipe from Berlin.
Mike looked at her shocked, of all the day's for her to bring this dish, she had to serve it when he wanted to go on a fast.
With a heavy heart but an ecstatic tummy he ate the food and licked the bowl, he then laps up his milk from Glasgow and goes to his bed to sleep.
He wakes up by 3 in the morning and walks to his litter box to file a report of yesterday's culinary activities.
After he was through with his business he looks through the window and sees those cats from before. Although there was another Tomcat there and this one looked more impressive.
With a look at his shadow he realized there is no hope for him. Although he hungers for Molly, he realizes that he can't ever be hungry in his house. As he lies down to sleep, his heart is heavy at the loss, but his stomach is thinking of the menu of tomorrow.

I closed the book and looked up to see my two favorite men asleep on the bed. Brian is as much a sucker for stories as his son, so I tapped him lightly and told him to go to his bed. Laughing lightly as he hit his head on the door, I tucked in Thomas and began to go to bed but my stomach rumbled.

"Hmmm, guess I'm hungry too."

A hungry kitty, whose desire for good food overpowers his need for love is a really cute and original character. The family scene you’ve created is absolutely marvellous and your story arc is enticing. Good use of the prompt, you even snuck in hunger for knowledge and entertainment - of course there are many, varied types of hunger. Very nice!

Please remember to comment on other writers’ stories and support the community.

Thanks, of course I will 🤗

That’s a really cute tale. Haha, poor kitty! He can’t decide if he prefers food or love, but I guess, it’s a common thing almost cats for food to be the ultimate choice, especially if it’s an imported delicacy from Berlin. Hehe 😉❤️🤗

Of course 🤗. To some food is their first love 💕😂

A lovely tale. I was hungry for more. Kudos.

Thanks🤗

What a nice story, he is an ambitious kitten, with different hungers.

Indeed he is 😌

What a great story time tale, @seki1!

Thanks @jayna 🤗

of course I had to come visit you this morning since you encouraged me with your comment....and I have been giggling nonstop with this story!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂

from start to finish!! the whole pre -story sideshow was BRILLIANT!!!

Does this really happen in your household??? if not - it SHOULD!!!! NOT only in yours but in every household!!!! I'm in love with this entreaty to the story teller!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂 in LOVE with it!!!!

and then the story begins and I just giggled continuously!!! all inside of Mike's head...his shock and disdain and his Miami sand ..😂😂😂😂

but poor Mike...lolol. too many belly jiggles for that molly hahahahaha

oh my gosh this was GREAT!!!! WELL DONE!

Like I commented on your post @dreemsteem, all it takes is a different perspective.
I was watching Yukon Vet on Nat Geo Wild when a rather peculiar patient came in; an Obese cat.

Unfortunately I couldn't finish the show as I was still reading for my exams, which sadly biology isn't part of so I couldn't use that as an excuse.
Although i couldn't finish it, it did spark up a question in my mind.

  • When would you know your cat is obese.

I thought about it for a while till my imaginative mind which was supposed to be thinking of physics, laws of gravity in particular brought up another question;

  • Does a cat knows when its Obese?

Now I knew that there was no going back. So I began with my pen and drafted up this beautiful masterpiece 😂 .
