RE: Passages

in The Ink Well2 months ago

I can't believe my message didn't post first time round on 11th, although I already shared it with you. Here it is again on your post 🥰

Oh, my darling @agmoore. I read your piece last night. I had no words that seemed fitting enough, and needed to sit with it a while. I cannot imagine the pain your family went through, both visible, and hidden in the silence of the years, in the passage of time, as you all learned to rebuild in your own way. Your gif image that you created is so powerful. The looping film of a man slowly disappearing into the distance, caught between the vividness of a fulfilled life, and the stark monochromicity of a world lacking in colour, beauty, or options. But, hope and promise are eventually fulfilled, in some small way. A life and journey in various phases on repeat. Sometimes being forced to leave, and others making the autonomous choice for himself, escaping your father's clutches and going on to carve out a successful and happy later life for himself. A heartbreaking read, and yet, everything isn't simply black and white. There are often several factors at play. I can feel the ebb and flow of emotions in the writing and your metaphorical image, always in flux, cyclical. Again, so powerful and layered. You have incredible strength and compassion. I'm so sorry you had to live through that. Every word you chose hit deep. I love you, Miss 💗🙏🫂🌈 xxx

Dear @samsmith1971, I know your heart. Plus, you told me already. I am most gratified that you see the total expression here. My piece is visceral and intellectual. Both parts spoke to you.

Thank you for for most kind sentiments. This post was more than a post. It was a way of reconciling complex emotions. I'm grateful I can do this is writing and that I have people, such as you, who are willing to be part of my healing process.

Hope you and your family are well.

Thank you again.
